Well, first, quick update on Ernesto’s snuffles. All symptoms gone. The vet decided to keep on with azithromycin for a few more days due to his relapse a few days ago. So we are still on it and with the nebulizer. But doing great.

Now, to the current topic of concern. Ernesto is my only bunny. We spend a lot of time together (and do I loooooove that) because I am currently working from home a lot. He has a whole room and supervised  access to the bunny proof kitchen. I am working on his becoming familiar to the rest of the zoo at home. Very gradually and under strict supervision. I am a dog trainer and my dogs are well adjusted with other species but I like to take it slow anyway.

Question: do you think he will need a companion? Can a bunny who lives really close to his human and other animals be happy?

        Thank you in advance!

There are plenty of happy single bunnies out there. If he gets adequate attention, then I don’t think getting him a friend is essential. That being said, many bunnies do enjoy having a companion. You just have to be willing to put the effort into it since the bonding process can be a rocky one.

If you are providing him enough attention which it sounds like then he doesn’t need a rabbit friend. Although it would be good for him to have a companion bunny, it is not needed. I personally got another bunny  even though mine was give tons of attention, so that when I go on vacation it’ll she could have company, ( She doesn’t like car rides so I don’t want to take her with it putting her though stress. ) I also decided to get a companion for her so she would have someone to who speaks her language. It also gave a home to a shelter bunny, which saved two lives!  Getting another bunny is not needed in your situation. There are tons of happy single bunnies.

            * I am not trying to lean you with my decision to get another bunny.

Thank you for your replies! He does get a lot of attention, but I wonder if he’d ve happier with another bun. He is EXTRA cuddly. Follows me everywhere and flops next to me. Holidays will be difficult for him, definitely.

Will give all this a second thought. He is a baby still, I have to neuter him before I make any decisions.

              Thank you!
