I have been doing reasearch on what I should do in a emergency, and on HRS it said I should find an Emergency vet in my area but I can only find one on HRS that is emergency in WI and its 3 hours away! that wont do any good! They also said if it was just a cut you could take them to a place that doesn’t do rabbits and they would still know how to help, but what if it wasn’t a cut.

Any way I was just looking for one in my area and i thought i could ask you guys to help me find one before i have an emergency.

        Thanks

Where does your vet say you should go in an emergency? Have you asked if there is someone they refer to?

No I haven’t. I have only gone there once and thats when Lulu got spayed.

Unfortunately, ER vets are hard to find. The closest one to my house is over 45 minutes away, and that’s when it’s not snowy out (about 5-6 months of the year). In snowy weather, the closest one is probably well over an hour away. Oh, and did I mention that they once told me over the phone to give my bunny a few ounces of canned pineapple juice when he had possible stasis? >.<

You’ve probably seen this list already, but the HRS has a list of recommended vets. I’m not sure if any are emergency vets, but it’s worth a look.

Yes, I have seen the list and they only had one thats 3 hours away, thats not going to help in an emergency

Have you checked your local vets’ offices? Some vets are open very late, or even have 24/7 ER hours, but don’t advertise it much. (One of my local vets was like this before they stopped treating rabbits.)

Ok well I found 2 that are closer. they are both about an hour away. One says 24 Hour Emergency Service, and the other one is one is on my vets web site it says for after hour emergencies go here. but it doesn’t give a website to the vet. and i don’t know if it does rabbits.

Wow   I thought it was bad   the emergency vet is over the bridge across the river..          i could picture me pedaling my 3 wheel   to that office at some wee hour of the morning for one of my buns during an emergency.         not wanting to bother a sleeping neighbor and there r no ambulances for pets lol             thats if hubby wasnt home

2 hours is still a ways                  our vet recommends the one across the river.        the closest one.          the bridges here have bike lanes n exercise lanes for pedestrians    my mom was so impressed whan she came to visit
