Willow, do you have her wrapped up in a thick blanket? That could be causing the temperature rise. We thought something was seriously wrong with my girlfriend’s bun but it turned out that she used fleece to transport her.

Willow bunny even if your rabbit seems just fine, she could be masking symptoms that are serious and life-threatening. I cannot emphasize how important it is to get your rabbit to a vet A.S.A.P. Also, how did this happen?

I ditto – a trip to the vet is best.  Even when a limb goes back in the socket, bone bruising and muscle and/or ligament tearing could’ve happened.   Any of which can also cause painful inflammation.  Treatment for this is the humane way to go.   Check out http://rabbit.org/vets/vets.html to see if there are any vets near you.

Is she eating, drinking and pooping?

I hate to be the one to mention this…but if Willow’s mom won’t spend the money to get the rabbit spayed chances are pretty slim that she’ll pay for an emergency vet visit if the rabbit doesn’t appear to be in pain. What should she do to try to manage it herself?

                            Ohhh parents …..

Only thing I know is the small baby aspirin.  It will help with pain and fever. I don’t know dosages tho. So maybe 1 a day or ask a vet about it.

I don’t think it is safe to give anti inflammatories tho.  So unless you have vet advice I wouldn’t try that on bun.

Gosh I really hope bun can go to a vet.  It isn’t very expensive not like a spay is. Ohhhh lets send some good vet trip vibes.

Yes could be a muscle or what ever is in there is sore.  Awe poor worried bunny slave and bunny.

Oh hey can you put some cold pack on it or ice?  That could help reduce swelling and soreness.

I’m glad your parents took you and Willow to the vet. With all of the excuses you made for not being able to get Willow spayed this past week I just figured we would hear more of the same.

It is excellent that you have arranged to have your baby spayed, and that she does not have a serious problem wit her foot. That must have been quite a scare for you. Spays are an invasive surgery and you’ll have to talk to your vet about the proper post-operative care. I would suggest having some of her favorite greens on hand (I usually use Italian parsley and dandelion leaves). The first day or so after the procedure she will not eat much, so you may have to hand feed her greens to keep her from developing intestinal problems.

Hey, this is good news that she has not only has been seen by the vet for the leg, but will be spayed. I know that this is a financial strain – not easy, but your family is doing the right thing in making sure the animals that depend on you get the care they need.

Be sure to look over those articles carefully -  Things like NOT fasting prior and knowing what to watch out for after are very important. It can take a few days for Willow to feel better, but what Osprey said about eating is crucial.   Many vets will offer pain meds, and this can help her feel more comfortable and help her be more willing to eat.  So once you read everything over, ask your vet what his/her pre-post procedures are too.

                                              Keep us updated!

Yay You will definitely benefit from having your bunny spayed! And I am very proud of you for being able to get your mom to understand the importance of the situation enough to call the vet.

Do keep a close eye on her after the surgery, she will not be feeling very well and will need a lot of tender loving care. Do not let her jump or run around because she could injure herself, I know you said she likes to jump up on your bed, keep her from doing that and if she does, definitely do not push her off. Try to very gently lower her to the ground.

OH, and to add – the hormone change won’t happen over night. It will take about a month or so for her hormones to settle down.

Willow-rabbit, you must have done some serious persuading! I still can’t persuade my parents that a bunny is a real pet & not some edible, disposable critter so cheers for you negotiating the spay!
