I’ve been looking up a bunch of flowers that my bun can eat, but i can’t find anything on canterbury bells, which we do have. does anyone know if rabbits can eat Canterbury bells? Listing off other flowers they can eat is helpful, too (: Snapdragons?

researching on species pages says canterbury bells are ansolutely safe and snapdragons are dubious!

we still want input on other flowers though, maybe

I don’t know from personal experience nor reading from past posts, but I came upon something online that states the following:

“Canterbury Bells (campanula medium) – Non-toxic but best fed in a good mix with other plants.”

…. to me, it sounds like perhaps it’s not the most nutritionally beneficial perhaps? Or maybe it’s overloaded with something specific, so less is recommended. Either way, it seems from this that if your rabbit accidentally ate one, it should be OK, but perhaps not a go-to.

The HRS rabbit lists this visual guide for some rabbit-safe plants: https://rabbit.org/posters-and-flyers/toxic-safe-plants-page-001/

Nasturtiums are very colorful if you’re looking for more ideas. They’re edible for humans too!

we don’t intend to use any of the flowers we have as a staple item, just treats, and our herbs just to supplement “normal” types of greens 🙂

I grow pansies every year, and I have a lavender out there that I let them eat flowers from. Those are both safe.

A while ago I put together a small list of edible flowers, particularly ones that are nice additions to the garden :

                    https://docs.google.com/document/d/18SUGWuPLaCIGR6fimUVbSdrgOTohHQ9UKVlJD1SahAo/edit?usp=sharing

As always though, when introducing anything new to a bunny, only give them a very  small amount to start with until you are sure it wont cause an upset stomach!

However, a lot of very common herbs to flower when allowed to grow: basil, rocket and mint are all really lovely  and break out in little white flowers that are really pretty (but they grow ridiculously well and will take over, so might be best to grow them in a pot)
