Bunnies aren’t very good climbers, but there are some exceptions. We are currently away from home for the holidays, but a few days ago, our pet-sitter let us know that when she came in, Aeryn was missing! She managed to climb over the bunny enclosure (over 2 feet tall!) and was downstairs in the rec room, which she will run to when we let the bunnies out. We’re not sure why she likes the rec room, she mostly goes down and just sits there whenever she thinks we’re not looking, and then we go down and chase her back up.
Fortunately the pet-sitter managed to chase her back upstairs and back into the enclosure. She’s also put up our baby-gate across the living room door in case Aeryn makes it over the wall again. At least the living room is bunny-proofed and there’s food and water outside the enclosure, but the rest of the house isn’t.
We think that because Aeryn can (barely) put her front paws on top of the bunny enclosure if she stretches out as much as she can, she can with great difficulty pull herself up and over if she’s really determined to do so. Fortunately the gate is somewhat higher, and she hasn’t figured out how to climb it–yet.
