Hello there! I’m a longtime lurker, first time poster
I have a gorgeous pair of minilops, a boy and a girl. They’re coming up to being a year old now (so I’ve had them for about 10 months), and they were both fixed at 6 months old.
Boybunny is a darling. He’s big for a minilop and an absolute softie – constantly flopping and binkying and asking for strokes. He’s not a fan of being picked up, but he’ll sit still for grooms for hours, and he’s always been good with the littertray.
Girlbunny, however, is quite a little madam! She’s much smaller and a really funny character – she’ll follow me round the flat and give me nose-bumps, but she doesn’t seem to like being touched very much. I can sometimes give her a couple of rubs on the head, but she always scampers off quickly. She definitely isn’t scared of me, and she’s never shown a hint of aggression, but she always seems to have better things to do!
I think girlbunny was the runt of the litter, as she was much slower in growing than the boy, and her balance and legs have never been quite right. (She falls over a lot but the vet says she’s fine, and whatever is unusual about her isn’t causing her any discomfort. They’ve both been treated for e. cuniculi just in case.) She’s a litterbox terror though – she’ll use it when she’s in her cage, but she’s also decided that under the dining table is definitely HER territory and poos and wees there whenever it takes her fancy. I’ve put extra litterboxes down and I’m always prompt with the vinegar, but it doens’t make too much difference. Unfortunately I can’t fence the area off as my flatmate wouldn’t really appreciate it…
Does anybody else have a slightly eccentric/grumpy/skittish girlbunny to deal with? Any tips for territorial (I think?!) marking? All help would be appreciated!
