Sandy loves to chew on things and we recently put in a hidey box that she plays in.  Her ramp and part of the flooring is partically cardboard.  She’s been chewing and digging at all the cardboard (plus the cottage) but she’ll EAT the cardboard every time.    This can’t be good for her to always be eating the cardboard, right?  I put key rings for her to play with and she actually CHEWED through them!  (it’s taken her awhile but she did it finally)  She loves to play around….right now she’s chewing and playing on the metal key ring that holds the clamp to clip on her cage   Any other ideas on stuff for her to chew on that she can’t eat?  Anyone else’s rabbit eat all the cardboard?  Just don’t want her to get sick.  Thanks!

Mellow claws and chews it, but doesn’t seem to ingest it. He likes to eat baskets and twigs. (Apple twigs)

          Edited to correct spelling.

I gave her a willow ball and ring (for x-mas) but she chewed those up by the end of the day lol! She also has a yellow pages book and she’ll ingest that too when she plays with it. This is a little off topic but still has to do with her eating……we have salt down on our sidewalk and when we come in the house we try to get as much off of our shoes as possible but sometimes there will still be one or so that get on the ground and on the carpet. She actually hops over by the door mat and sniffs for the salt! She also loves to lick our palms if their a little sweaty. She’s a weird little bun

Oh, I like bunnies like Sandy! So much fun. I would definitely give her a salt wheel if she enjoys salt as a treat. The road salt is bad for them obviously.  you know, I think she will really enjoy being bonded eventually, it will help keep her entertained. About the cardboard I wouldn’t worry about it too much, just the phone book I would take away, no printed stuff for eating.

My bunny Mops is similar. He eats his way through cardboard boxes and rips up cardboard flooring I put down. Have you tried giving Sandy branches to strip?

here is Deirdra and her salt… (i just love to watch her, she is such a deer)

I was thinking of a salt lick but I wasn’t sure if it was good for them or not.  Anything to stay away from at a petstore or just any regular salt lick?  Have to get one next time we’re out.  Yeah I’ll be glad when they’re all bonded because she likes to get into everything.  She follows me in the bathroom and tries to rumig (sp?) through the trash and eat the kleenex   So I’m hoping once she’s bonded with them she’ll get into less trouble…unless it goes the other way around and they get into more trouble….that would be just my luck too

I’ll have to get a video of her playing with the key ring, it’s cute.

Aw your video is cute!    I always loved Mops’ haircut hehe!

Otto eats a fair amount of cardboard. He’ll dig up some, but the big pieces he pulls off with his mouth usually get munched right down. It’s just cellulose, plant fiber, so it should be ok as long as she’s not filling up on it and not eating her hay. Williow is also good for bunnies who like to eat their toys. Or the balsa chews from the BB store.

Some salt licks are colored and fruit-flavored. Deirdra likes the plain white wheels. If Sandy wants to lick up the road salt from off your mat, I’d go with plain white for her. Just stay away from the brownish-colored mineral wheels, rabbits should not have those.

Thanks Petzy, I knew there was white and a different colored one but couldn’t remember what that was. LOL El, we got her a bunch of willow stuff and she chewed up in in minutes, I could probably spend a fortune on that stuff…she even finished of the balsa chews that Archie and Gracie didn’t eat (they only ate the outside part until they realized it was wood lol!).
