there have been threads this morning mentioning how rabbit sales increase over the Easter holiday and bunny dumps increase a few months afterwards.

i thought i’d post a few links to some different anti-Easter Bunny articles.

it doesn’t hurt to have these things fresh in your mind in case questions come up…  for example, maybe a coworker knows you have houserabbits and asks you where she should get a bunny for her daughter for Easter.

          Thanks Beka
What I was thinking of doing was writing a letter to my local paper (I’ve actually been published in it three times now!) about not getting easter bunnies. Thanks for the reminder, I’d better get going!

great ideas for getting the word out!   when my mom met pinky the first thing she said was ‘people would pay a lot of money to have their kids pic taken with her.’  good thing i adopted right before easter.  her & baby bun are my easter bunnies… and my christmas bunnies & new years bunnies & EVERY day bunnies…

This is brilliant, everyone. I’ve been trying to figure out what to do around Easter to do my part to prevent unwanted bunnies, and the information on these pages would be great for flyers. There’s an absolutely awful petstore in the mall that I work at over the summer, and I’m thinking that I might camp out in front of there with flyers and information about rabbit care (including the fact that all the bunnies they sell in that store are absolute *babies* and will probably grow up to be like 8 or 9 pounds– that enough should be a deterrent for most people) and adoption information for people who’ve done their homework and are still interested, and hope I don’t get arrested. XD I dunno, though, I feel like even that’s not doing enough. I’d love to be able to gather a big group of people and go petstore to petstore papering everything with flyers, but I get the feeling that (a) the petstores would probably just take them down, and (b) none of my friends are bunny people like I am, and while they’d come along with me I’d be worried about getting them in trouble if someone decided to take action against us. Is there anything you guys do yearly to try to save a couple o’ buns?

I wonder if writting letters to petstores asking them to not sell any bunnies during the easter season would help at all?

Here’s a Peta site (lets not get started on everyone’s opinion on peta though ok? ) http://www.peta.org/feat/bunnyfever/ and they will give you free supplies, so you could request them to send you leaflets if you are planning to leaflet at the mall.

y’all have some great ideas to help inform people of impulse buys on buns and how to go about taking care of one and what all that entails. especially around Easter time good work friends. I like the one about putting ad in paper about that too.

Beka27 I just got a email from another group I belong to and what they are trying to do about the problem at Easter with bunnys. May I send it to you so you can find out if we can post it. It’s all about emailing Oprah and her haveing a show about the over population of bunny’s at easter and what happens to them after easter. As we all know when Ophra talk’s everyone takes notice. Its a great email I think if we can get all the buuny groups that we all belong too plus Bunspace we might make a differance. You can email me at kitkai2001@yahoo.com or my user name on binkybunny is kittsbuns I hope you email me I think we can make a differance. Kitti
