        Hey all!

We have started the bonding process with Georgia and Arthas. They have been living as neighbors in a neutral space for a couple weeks now, with stuff being swapped, etc. There have been a couple of short dates that are mostly uneventful except for Georgia being crabby and grunting at Arthas.

But, I’m not really sure she likes him all that much. She has been a single bun all her life, but has always loved all of our other bunnies. She would hang out and flop by Churro and Cinnabon’s pen during her play time or try to sneak into the computer room to see Rocky and Napoleon and do a “bunny data download” head smooshing together with them.

But, she never shows any signs of interest in Arthas, never lays on his side of her pen now that they’re neighbors, or really even acknowledges him. During dates, she’s more interested in getting pets from us than checking him out.

So, my question is – what are some early signs that two buns may not be compatible? I assume like humans, they may just not like one another for some reason. But, her behavior is totally different toward him than any other bun in the past.

On a side note, we are in the process of setting up a spay for Georgia. Due to a series of challenging life events following the time we got her, we have not had the chance to get her spayed. I realize this can make a difference, but I have had successful bonded pairs in the past with an intact female/neutered male pair (when I was a new bunny parent and didn’t know the full importance of female spays). So, I’m not convinced that’s the only issue here. That being said, I’m hoping after she gets settled from the spay that maybe things will go better. Fingers and paws crossed!<!–/data/user/0/com.samsung.android.app.notes/files/clipdata/clipdata_bodytext_250412_010431_737.sdocx–>

They have been on some dates and she largely just ignores him? Isn’t that considered a good thing? I mean, incompatible would essentially be two bunnies trying to murder each other every chance they got.

Lol well, when you put it that way, I suppose you’re quite right!

I guess I was just surprised (and admittedly a little disappointed) that she wasn’t displaying the same level of enthusiasm she had shown towards other buns in the past. And I was afraid maybe it meant she wasn’t interested.

But I wasn’t thinking that indifference with bunnies is also a good sign versus death wishes and murder attempts lol.

              Thanks, LBJ. 🙂

Yes, ignoring is a million times better than fighting. I would not take her indifference as meaning they can’t live together. They may not end up being Velcro bunnies, but they will likely be able to live together peacefully. I don’t consider that a failure.
