Hey everyone…
So, this morning about 5am i woke up to use the potty and as i started to walk Daisy just started freaking out she was acting CRAZY!!! IU can’t really describe in words what she was doing she was running in circles all around her pin knocking everything around the pin was getting pushed every which was so i was saying DAISY DAISY ITS OK and just as she stoped i could see her against on side of her pin so i reached my hand in to let her know it was me and she let off the most horrible littke scream i’ve ever heared, and started to do it again, at that point the scream had woken up my husband and he started saying hurry turn on the light… So, when she finally stoped she was sitting in the corner in a little ball , not only was i scared she was going to have a heart attack but i know shes still not healed all the way from her spay…
so i got in her pin with her and she came to me as fast as she could and got in my arms
so i just sat there and held her for about 10 min.. and then i put her in bed with me and she just layed there and cuddled me. Has this happened to anyone before? what could have caused it, did she just think i was a predetor because it was so dark?
Bunnies don’t see very well and my bunnies always freak out when I head to the toilet at night. I’ve learnt to turn on the light, even though it hurts my vampire eyes, because otherwise I get the same thing…and a quick trip to the toilet in the middle of the night becomes an ordeal that lasts half an hour…plus all the guilt!
And by the time mine have worked themselves up into being totally freaked out, no amount of soothing words help until they see me in light. Silly bunnies.
Gosh, what a scare! How does she seem today? It does sound like she may have been startled but to let out a scream……??? And for her to run to you aswell. She obviously trusts you. I would have thought if in that frightened mode she would be as far away from everyone as possible. Could she have been bitten or something?
Hope she’s ok today.
yeah I’ve never heard the scream before. And yeah as soon as she saw it was me she came running right to me and got in my lap. About the question if she was bitten, there’s no way she could have been bitten unless she bit herself LOL she is my only animal. She is doing just fine today, except the fact that every noise she lifts her ears and streches her neck to listen but she seems to be acting normal, I think she may have been moving too much for her little tummy cause she’s not running or jumping but she’s hoping just fine
Oh, I meant like an insect bite. Good to hear she’s acting herself. maybe do as Cassi suggested and give her a bit of warning your coming out during the night.
Oh an insect bite LOL…. I don’t think so I checked her all out just to make sure she hadn’t hurt herself and I didn’t see or feel anything. So I just remembered that I usually have a small night light by my bed and last night I had unpluged it thinking it might be keping her from catching her zzz’s.. So I think I’ll plug it back in
I have one of those ‘light show’ night lights that comes with the scent bottle (I don’t use the scent) and that is about all the light I can have on at night without getting Pip all mad at me because she can’t sleep with anything brighter on. (A shame because I have xmas lights in my room and can’t use them at night, just during the dark part of the day.) But it helps to keep them from thinking I am the boogie man when I have to get up to go to the loo in the middle of the night.
Poor bunny. Screaming defines a bun in fear for her life. You didn’t mean to scare her, and she obviously figured out it was you and came to you, so it sounds like all is well. I hope I never hear my bunnies scream. I have heard one do it once and that is enough for me. >.<
OH man how scary!! Yes, that happens, usually to Rupert. I talk while I walk in the dark, but sometimes he’ll still freak out anyways. He’ll freak out if you surprise him in the light too!
I’ve heard a scream too, I was bathing Ruperts bum once, and he looked right at me and screamed (Short bursts) quite angrily right at me, three times! It was the most unnerving scary thing ever. I knew he was fine, and further examination of the circumstances afterwards, we believe he was just trying to get out of the bum bath. It was bizarre!!
He looked right at you and screamed, wow. That’s freaky.
geez oh man. i think i’d be up for the night if my bun screamed at me. is it possible she was just getting a burst of energy and you happened to walk in at that moment?
Oh poor bunny, I know that scared both of you to death! I get up while it’s still dark and have to be very quiet passing through the bunnies room or I startle several of them too.
I heard Pringles scream when she was younger and it freaked me out. The cat had knocked down a sticky fly strip and the end of it was just barely stuck to her butt and she went tearing through the house screaming like she was being skinned alive. On the 3rd lap I managed to drop a towel over her and scoop her up and get it off. At the time Pringles was a fire-eating dragon, mean, oh she’d take your hand off just tryiing to pet her. But after I rescued her from the bunny munching sticky tape, I was her hero!
Kathy
lmao…OH geez, I’m sorry guys, but some of these stories of freaking bunnies is making me rotfl! xD
kralspace, I can just see this poor bunny running like Ol’ Nick is after her himself because of strip of flypaper! Poor thing, but oh geez, that must’ve been a scream!
K&K, That Rupert of yours is just scary in his overall sentience, even for a bun. I think you’ve posted other things about him that make him seem almost human. 0_o
The quiet speaking is a good idea too. I actually talk to my bunnies so much everyone is ready to put me in the loony bin, but they always know when I’m going somewhere, even in the middle of the night, so they are totally comfortable with it. It may just take her getting used to a ‘nature’s call routine’ and then it won’t scare her anymore. ^_^
Oh that’s too funny about rupert’s bum bath I can’t belive he looked right at you and screamed!! Silly little rupert… There was no freak out this morning I put the night light back in but I kinda sheild it by putting the laundry hamper on the side to block half the light because just lime mizmum said that pip gets mad at too much light so does Daisy and that’s why I took it out In the first place… It’s so funny because my “tuff guy” husband who pretends to not like Daisy mad sure he was talking to her when he got up for work, I was pretending to still be asleep and I caught a peek of him leaning over petting & talking to her… I guess he has a soft spot LOL
cute
