        Hi everyone,

I made a few posts about my rabbit Winnie a few weeks ago and I’ve been giving her panacur (0.34 ml) for 25 days because I suspect she may have e cuniculi. Today will be her 26th dose. For a tiny bit of context her vets had tested her in every way possible, came to no conclusion, but argued with me that they didn’t think it was e cuniculi, and I fought for them to give me panacur for her anyway.

Good news is that her normal self has been appearing way more lately. She pees a lot less outside of her litter, and when she does it’s super close to her litter. And the poo outside of her litter is less. Even her strange behaviour of getting terrified and circling and seeming goes away. She now has moments in the day where I can tell she’s there mentally and is more present (if that makes any sense). Even the slight head tilt has gotten better.

The problem is that she still gets the weird behaviour randomly. Like for one day she was calm and herself again, and the next morning as well, but then that evening she started behaving weirdly again. Is this normal? She’s only got 2 more days of panacur and I’m so worried.

That sounds like there has been an improvement, that’s great!

So, sometimes buns do need a second course to fully clear the infection. But, the damage from EC to the nervous system is permanent, so it’s also possible that she may not ever have a complete resolution of symptoms. I would normally say “ask your vet”, but it sounds like they didn’t support this treatment from the beginning, so that’s tricky.

I think if it were me I would complete this treatment and see how she does for a few weeks. If symptoms start to get worse again (keep a journal of weird episodes to you know the true frequency) then you could give her another round.
