        I am confused!

I’ve read on the internet that dwarf bunnies should get only 1/2 max 1 cup of veggies per day. Plus people from the greek forum that have gone to different vets (dont know how much they know about bunnies) say that they shouldnt get any. And the vet I went to said to give only 2 leaves of lettuce and a piece of carrot per day.

Whats do your vets say and what amount of veggies should a dwarf get per day??

The House Rabbit Society recommends 2 cups chopped vegetables per 6 pound body weight. How much does your rabbit weigh?

I don’t think 2 lettuce leaves and a piece of carrot per day is adequate…

That’s about 2.6 pounds so I think I would just half what the House Rabbit Society recommends. I have a feeling those people on the forum that only feed pellets may be breeders (but that is just a guess).

Keep in mind too that the vets in the US recommend vegetables and follow the House Rabbit Society Guidelines.

I’ve been giving my 1.2 pound baby a handful of clover from the yard twice a day. She really likes that. The vet, too, said veggies aren’t all that necessary. She did recommend a slice of apple, a few baby carrots, a leaf of lettuce other than iceberg. She said not many pellets and hay was the big thing she should be eating. I did read on here about veggies though, so I think I will get some cilantro or something fairly reasonable as I don’t think Honey Bunny will eat much at once. She’s so tiny!!

I take the veggies guideline to mean a minimum of 2 cups of veggies daily for rabbits 6 pounds AND UNDER. So whether they are 1 pound, or 6 pounds, 2 cups a day… assuming of course the veggies agree with the bunny and it doesn’t affect hay consumption.

My ND gets 1/2 to 1 cup a day any more then that and i have to clean out his cage. Anya my lop can eat her way through a veggie patch and not have an issue however as they are housed together she gets her 1/2 a cup and then gets the rest as treats snuck to her. Rufus my other lop can’t really handle veggie to well at the moment. I try and get him to eat them but his tummy sometimes gets upset for no reason so I have to watch him as well.

My rabbit-savvy vet has always recommended the larger amount of greens. She also feels a pellet free diet as long as a larger variety of greens is available.
