I like to give our bun a variety of hay, and now I’m wondering if that wasn’t a good idea.  She was eating the Small Pet select as well as a house blend from One Ear Up.  When One Ear Up stopped making the house blend (which had clovers in it), I bought Farmer Daves 2nd cut Timothy with clover.  I had to buy it from Amazon because the Farmer Daves site was sold out.  When I pull it out of the box to fill her bin it is dusty.  Is this a problem? She loves it so much that she’s been ignoring the Small Pet Select.  I’m running out of the Farmer Daves but I dont want to order more if it’s bad for her.  Does anyone know of a place that offers a 2nd cut Timothy with clover? Maybe I should have left well enough alone when she was willing to eat the Small Pet Select.

If she is not sneezing while she is eating, then i think it’s fine. You can also shake it out before you give it to her.

I agree with giving the hay a good shake before putting it in her cage, it usually gets a lot of the dust off

You know, that is interesting, as I stopped buying SPS hay because it was very dusty. Thor was sneezing, and the vet even put him on antibiotics, but the problem stopped once I gave him a different hay (he is a healthy bun). I even purchased two different cuts, but Thor sneezed with both 1st and 2nd cut Timothy, even if I shook it. I had a suspicion it was the hay even after the meds, so if your bun starts sneezing, change the hay for sure. Oddly enough, there is a small amount of dust with the current company I order from (I don’t think they do clover), but he has never sneezed with them.
