So Dule is officially on her way to getting a boyfriend. I’m lucky since the shelter I got her from offers bonding services and will keep her and her new man until they are happy, or try until she finds someone she likes. The first boy I picked to try seemed to be the one! He is a pretty sable who is about a year old, (forgot to take pictures sadly). They stuck them in a pen together to see how they felt about each other, and from what I could tell and the shelter staff said it went well. They laid face to face, and he tried to snuggle her. She stayed an irritated loaf for most of it, though did demand grooming from him when he came close. There was minimal chasing, and only when he tried to sniff her backside and she decided that was absolutely rude. He was actually doing binkies and was flopping down next to her so hard he rolled entirely over. Considering how happy he seemed to be to meet her, and that she tolerated him trying to get close I think it is off to a good start.

It’ll be weird to have her gone, but I am excited to get her some bunny company. I’m excited that she seemed to take to a handsome bun whose coloring looks nice with her (not that it matters, but he is lovely). I’ll update you guys with pictures when I get them. I was wondering, should I do a deep clean of her cage and her rug so it won’t smell like her when they get back?

How exciting! It sounds like it was a good first date . I wouldn’t try to get rid of her scent around the house. Even if they get along really well at the shelter, when they both come home you will need to go through the whole bonding process – her in her space, him in his space, meetings in neutral territory.

It’s gone well so far, apparently they’ve been love bugs at the volunteers house for the last couple days so I should be able to take them home tomorrow! I’m trying to decide on a name for him, I’m thinking something coffee themed but not sure yet. Once I have pictures I’ll be sure to post them

And the shelter actually does the bonding process for me, they don’t let them come home until they’re both fully bonded. I know that coming to a new space can be stressful, so the shelter lady said I should try and make the house smell as neutral as possible, but that they should be fine to be together as soon as they get home. That’s what’s so great about the shelter in my area is that they offer a full bonding service so I’m not taking two rabbits home and hoping for the best, they’re pretty expert at it at this point.

That is so awesome. I’ve attempted several different bonds and always failed. Mostly I figure because I’m too stressed out about them getting hurt to give them a real chance. But I would miss my bun for sure. Great you are able to take them home soon

Yeah, I’d be too afraid to try it on my own. I know Dulce is very loving towards him, and he’s been binkying non stop so I’m so happy that I am able to get them both the friend that they’ve obviously been craving.

Sounds awesome! You could call him Bean (coffee bean)
