He’s been so..happy!  He lets me pet him a lot more and last night he even came up and sat with me while I was watching tv AND let me pet him while he was up there.  Normally when he’s on the couch he’s skittish since he’s out of his element and he runs away if I try to touch him.  He’s also been flopping a LOT lately!  Normally he just kind of melts into his lounges when he goes to sleep but since he was sick he now full out FLOPS over at least a few times a day!  He’s been laying out with either the feet sprawled back or on his side sleeping right out in the open..which he never used to do.  He also has decided that the spot he used while sick just happens to be an awesome napping spot.  He keeps going behind the toilet and laying down on his side and conking out.

I don’t know what it was, but he just seems so happy and more trusting.  Maybe nursing him back to health gained some trust?  Maybe since he was too weak to struggle when he was sick it was like a forced way of seeing that I was not out to get him?  Whatever it is I’ll take it!  He seems so much happier and content since then!

When I first read the title I thought you may have meant off standish – different or depressed…….so I’m happy to read otherwise. I think he just really trusts you and is very comfortable in the home! It’s great!

I think that’s great! A lot of rabbits, even really aggressive ones are more loving lap bunnies after an illness where they need the intensive care and attention of a human. You bonded with your guy through the whole ordeal and now he’s thanking you.

I’m glad to hear your bun is happier. Interesting thing is that I was going on the site to see if this is normal since Bebe got sick last month and since then, she’s been extremely happy as well. She’s exhibiting behaviors I’ve never seen her do before. A lot more cuddling and wanting to be with people. As you mentioned as well, she’d let me pet her more and appears to trust us more after she was treated. She used to hate us touching her feet, but now, we can pick up her front legs and she’s okay with it. She has began to lick us as well!?!

One thing which is beginning to bother me is she’s pooping and peeing all the time now. She was trained when she was young and we’ve never had a problem with her as she’s always gone back to her cage to do her business. But the past week, she’s began to go almost every time she sits down at a spot. Tonight I had to clean up after her 6 times! Is this normal?

Makes me wonder if the trust is strengthened from the care during their sickness. It’s when they are at their most vulnerable as a prey animal, and you demonstrate you are absolutely no threat……Be amazing if they recognise this after!

That’s so sweet! I bet it’s because he found you to be comforting during his sickness!! Animals are smart

Bebe has her share of living.. she’s around 7 years old. I adopted her from friends, so I’m not sure if she was spayed or not. However, she was always potty trained and we never had any problems with her in that way. Just the past week I’ve noticed that she’s going ALL the time now, both pellets as well as urinating. Tonight I cleaned her potty and it was completely soaked all the way through. I have never seen it this wet before. So I’m curious why she’s going so often now.

When I took her to the vet last month, the vet said she was fine, but thought she might have molar spurs. Prior to taking her to the vet, at the advice of some of the forum leaders, I actually got some baby gas medicine for her and I think that alleviated some of her bloating pains as she was bloated and was tooth grinding.

Now, she’s been eating and drinking – ironically more than she normally does. I can’t seem to understand.

hmmm. i’d say to get her back into the vet. i’m not sure what that could be but her older age coupled with the fact that she is probably not spayed makes me very nervous. i wonder what other people think. normally major changes in a bun’s behavior or habits indicate something is up… with the cold weather now my buns are drinking noticeably less, not more. i know not all buns might do that but it doesn’t hurt to get the bun in and see what they think.
