I’m in the process of bonding my two neutered rabbits (male/female) and today’s bonding session went wonderful. Annabelle usually mounts Oskar a few times then it’s done, but today (for the first time) Oskar mounted Annabelle. At first she pretty much ignored him and next thing I see is that they are both walking in circles trying to mount each other. They didn’t fight but I’m just incredibly confused so:

        1.) Is double mounting okay?

2.) If not, how do I stop it?

3.) Does this mean I have to supervise them both more? They have not fought each other since their first encounter, but now I don’t know what this new behavior means.

Mine both mount. Originally it was just Hannah, but immediately after I moved them in together Otto began humping. Hannah still chases and Otto still occasionally tries to mount – neither mind too much.

To me, the behavior is normal. Either Oskar would like to be dominant now, or he’s letting her know how much he can tolerate, or it could be a stress reaction.

If there is no fighting, let them be. They need to sort out the pecking order on their own

Thank goodness! I thought something was wrong, they’re both living together now and haven’t fought.

You have to let them do that on their own and not interrupt unless they really fight. It’s important to let them work out dominance on their own without interference. You’re so lucky to have that so soon as my bunnies never got to the mounting… they’ll fight to the death I swear…
