donut has been so lethargic since last saturday! he just sits in his cage all day :/ he’s getting medicine for coccidia sinec last saturday and sunday. and getting more next friday and saturday. is the medicine making him lethargic? i also changed everything in his cage (bigger litter pan etc) last saturday- could it be that he’s in a new “environment”, and shy as when i first got him?

How long ago did he start getting lethargic, and how long ago did you start giving him medicine? Cage size is definitely not the reason, lethargy is a physical condition affected by sickness or medicine.

I think if you are medicating him then you need to contact the vet and ask if this could be a side effect from the medication. It’s been awhile since I’ve medicated any rabbits for coccidia which I believe is usually Albon that I cannot truly remember any reactions.

            How is his appetite?

he just started when he got his medicine on saturday. and his appetite is normal. he eats a lot of hay and a lot of pellets. drinking is normal as well.

That’s good that his appetite is good. I would just verify any side effects with the vet.

Man we are such a family here! ((laughs)) By the way if he is eating the worst thing that could happen is him just not being as jumpy as normal. So, either way hes going to be okay.

Well youngbunny, you don’t know if it’s the medicine or not, so it’s best that she consult with her vet as was advised.

I treated Griffin with Albon for coccidia- and he did not show any change in behavior at all.  Have you called the vet?

                                      sorry for the late update…
the vet said that he’s definitely not sick because he had a general health check up etc last saturday.
he said as long as donut is pooping, eating, drinking fine, he’s alright. and also reminded me to give him his medicine this coming friday and saturday

andd, i’ve also been leaving the door open these past few days and he’s acting normal now! binky-ing and running around.

yayayay!!!! looks like all he needed was a quick check. maybe the lethargy was to regain energy. my bunny will sometimes do that if he has been out all day the day begore. so maybe you let him out a long time yesterday.
