So tonight while I am watching some t.v., trying to grab some kip between dog walks, I can hear the water pump to our well going on and off in succession several times over the space of about ten minutes. Not a good sign. ![]()
I pull up the floor to the crawlspace. Sure enough, I can hear hissing. >_< Soo...when hubby came home from work, he goes down there to check and, well, pronounced it officially "Dead". ![]()
No water pump all night (which means no running water of any kind) until he bags a new hose and some attachments to get the thing going again. OY!
Never ask, when you’ve had a recent string of rotten luck, “What else could possibly go wrong??” ![]()
ah, i feel for you mimz….
i haven’t done laundry in about, well, at least a month. So i threw some essentials and then most of my fave items into the machine tonight. Including my ONLY work shirt that fits (cuz of my recent weight loss)…….turns out my BF had a pen in one of his pockets that made its way into the dryer w/ my clothes…..my favorite clothes……like my most faves…..yup and that ONLY work shirt? Its white…..grrrrrrr……….
I think I can save everything except the white stuff….i do work at a clothing store too, but i’ve been trying so hard to stop spending more than I make there….but did I mention, it was my FAVE clothes
*sighs*
On the bright side….we have running water to do laundry *darts mimzmum’s nasty look* lol sorry, had to throw that in there!
Psh! No worries, Justina, honestly I am just so low these days that it sometimes seems like I can’t go any farther down…then I get a day like this. lolz…
That’s terrible when bad things happen to good clothes. I’ve got bags of stuff that I would love to be able to wear again if I EVER lose any more weight, but in the meantime it sits and gathers dust…or rather mold. >.< I can only hang our stuff dry, I can't afford to dry it at our laundromat but there is ALWAYS a tissue or something (like sanitary napkins) that goes through the wash and, sure enough, I have to redo the load because it comes out with all this sticky paper all over it and I can't tell you how that frosts me. 0_o
Hmmm…sounds like ‘somebody’ in your house needs to have a few more ‘disciplinary’ chores to do, doesn’t he? ^_^
It’s miserable when the bad stuff just keeps piling on. *secretly hides from cooties.*
I think bleach works on the whites, a separate wash of whites only *do not add ballpoint to rinse*. I know Mr. Clean bleach sticks are good for spot cleaning, but sounds like a liquid is needed for a total wash.
MM, all I can say is, pew. The wind is coming from the North… (Did I make you laugh yet?)
I am about to leave a huge pile of dirty laundry to go in to work for the 6th day in a row. It’s installation week. I hurt all over, and we have another show to hang and labels to print, cut and hang. And my boss doesn’t like the background color on the brochure I made that is absolutely my favorite color ever and the best brochure I’ve done to date. I hate teal. She loves it. So I have to do a “sample.” Am sending the one I love home for my portfolio. (I worked for a decorator years ago when EVERYTHING was teal, so now I hate it.) So you see, all you have is a teeny, weeny little hot water heater problem, when I am coping with TEAL. Let’s have some perspective here.
oh MM, what rotten luck. Is it hard to get the parts up there. (I’m in central Texas so anywhere north of OK seems like the wilderness to me)
My condolances rabbitpam. One of our divisions has a teal/gray logo and I dread designing for them. There’s just not that many colors that go with teal, especially when I have to design the really big exhibits and signage. I just kinda hold my nose and do what they want instead of what I would do. (which is change the dang logo)
Oh Mimz! Hugs! I’m sorry about that. Those things are very frustrating. Bad things always seem to happen at the worst possible moment.
My current bad luck… my husband’s overtime has been cut (we’re going to be out of about $800-1000 a month now (we depend on the overtime for the “luxiuries” in life.) And just last week, my car started having “transmission-like” issues… UGH!!! The worst possible time.
I found the WSP at the right time I guess… we’re gonna need the extra money. Yesterday, I even cut 36 bunny nails BY MYSELF to save the $24 at the vet.
Allenj: That is very frustrating. I did that before too. And my work clothes were in the wash of course… and I had to work that afternoon. I ended up being late to work b/c I had to run to the store and get another pair of pants… very annoying.
oooh 36 bunny nails! brave woman, Beka!!!
Pam–I feel your pain….TEAL? really, ugh! So sorry! ![]()
lolz…Pam just go for a lighter blue and tell your boss, “Sorry, it was in my wash with the Mr. Clean bleach sticks…the teal faded to this color.” ^_^
How on earth could one use teal for a brochure? I mean, I think about teal and I think of the basic backgrounds for the original Window’s desktops…yuk!
Well (haha..no pun intended) he managed to get the water pump fixed this morning, but it blew so much rust and gravel and crud through the system that now the bathroom sink is all plugged up and there’s almost no water pressure coming out of it. >.<
Yah…I’m hard to please.
I’m just glad we’ve got that back for the most part, I would’ve hated to have to flip the circuit breaker on and off all day long to save the well pump, but keep the boiler heat going through the house. 0_o
*sigh* I know the bright side is around here somewhere…probably in the leach field with all the tissue remnants. :-/
Would you call this colour teal?
Or more this colour?
Or neither? I tend to see green where other see blue and vice versa.
MM, sorry to hi jack. Hoping things start flow more positively for you soon (bad pun intended!)
the first one jersey…..
MM—ur pun made me giggle….after i thought about it for a minute! haha…i’m a bit slow today….
oh jersey….double giggle!
LOLOL MM. I think you need a one way ticket to FL. Sammy invites you and the gang.
Jerseygirl, it’s the first one. However, we did manage to agree on a much more subtle, and lighter, shade of a touch of aqua with the blue. It helped that I overdid teal and went to an icky green, which was flatly rejected. The issue was that my blue was too gray (I LOVE that color!) so it got lighter, brighter, and greener. Problem is, the scan of my favorite didn’t come out well this morning, or I’d completely hijack MM’s post and upload it now.
MM…what were you saying?…I’ve completely lost track of what this thread’s about…worked 6 days…deinstalled, installed new show, redid brochure…brain exploded…residue of teal on walls….
MM, hope your feeling better
Everyone seems to be having bad things happen at the moment. It must be that time of the year!
Well thanks everyone. ^_^ I wish I could say things are better, but I’m just trying to hold up. Such is life.
Mimz, do you have well water? I didn’t know that. Wow you poor thing, I actually do water well permitting at my “day job” I hope you can get things resolved and the well is not located under your house – it’s impossible to pull the pump and work on or replace it. Sending *good vibes* your way! ![]()
Actually the well is just off the side of the house, (helps keep it warm with radiant heat during the winter, so we rarely have freeze ups), but all the stuff you have to get to to fix it is underneath in the filthy, dirty crawlspace…full of..*gulp*…SPIDERS! 0_o
He got the pieces on the next day, so the water’s been working since then. Except in the bathroom sink where all the sediment must’ve collected in that one faucet. So we have to pull that off next and clear it out. ~_~
We have lots of nasty stuff in our water, but it passes inspection every time. Go figure. I still would rather use bottled to wash my teeth with.
Yeah, you can have a lot of sediment in the glacier formations, which is probably what is the source of your water and the water quality is really good, but like you said, unfortunately you have a lot of sediment in it. Glad to hear you got all the pieces you needed to fix it! ![]()
Ohhh I know how you feel you want to say something and you need to knock on wood!!
Glad your water is back on-Nanci is on well water too and it froze over xmas while she was away so were all bringing out water in Culligan bottles for thirty horses, bunnies, cats, chickens, pigs etc. It was a huge job and huge pain in the bum!! I can only imagine!!
Hogeeze, I can’t imagine carting water in here for the family, much less all the animals. OMG, that would be a nightmare! 0_o I feel for your friend!
We’re lucky we have a public spigot right down the road we can use, plus there’s the hubby’s business that also has it’s own well, so we could get it from there without having to pay, but yah, this is an old house, built by folks who really didn’t know what they were doing…so I have quite a few peeves with it.
