Last night was about the third time my son has seen one of my neighbors’ bunnies out and about in the rural road. They have two that I know of, an English Lop with brown spots and a black bun I have never seen. These rabbits are kept in their garage area (I think-they have a number of pets, some of which are indoor and some outdoor and a few young children as well)  and they claim they ‘cannot keep them in their current pen, they always get out.’ We were searching for the black one most of the winter this year when we learned it had escaped and was running about outdoors somewhere. (In Alaska, that is a scary prospect!) Apparently it came back on it’s own, but I’ve seen the lop running about in the street before myself and I worry the poor things are going to get torn apart by someone’s roving dog, or a fox or run over by a car (since it won’t get out of the way) or some other horrible thing will happen to them.

So I am going to donate my outdoor bunny hutch, that my hubby so painstakingly made for Mimzy when he first arrived and was living in our rear shed (now known as the Bun-Galow but no longer used for that purpose) and I hope I can do it in a way that they will not ‘take offense’ and turn me down flat. These people don’t seem to generally care about most of their pets, the dogs are all outside in any kind of weather, they have a few cats who like to show up in our yard when they know I’ll be out there with food, and God only knows what else they’ve collected since the last time my son was over there visiting a friend of his who lived with them and who has since moved.

Okay, that was a mouthful! >.< I can't help thinking how the whole thing just chaps my rear, I get so tired of people who pick up pets en masse and then don't really take proper care of them. I've just spent the whole morning/early afternoon walking the two dogs, feeding them, feeding the stray cats, feeding my own cats and now I'm on to put the buns in the xpen (a little late today, but they need their time out) and what...? Now I have to make sure other people do the right thing by THEIR pets too?

Urgh…being an angel of mercy is a real pain sometimes. ~_~ lolz….

            *pouts*
Sadly, they are not interested in taking the hutch.
These people are one of those “whatever happens, happens” sets…bunny just “loves running around outside, we don’t want to make her feel confined.” Bish!

Oh well…if bunny just ‘happens’ to become one of my brood…. ^_^
Naw, I wouldn’t do that. But I’ll just have to keep an eye out for it and help it if it needs it I guess.

you should call a local animal authority next time the buns are loose, or just call and say you know they are in poor housing. something should be done now to prevent them getting killed. try giving them a call
