My dog is always gentle with our rabbits but she really like sticking her nose into the rabbit’s ears. She will lick the ears and the area between the ears and eyes is always wet afterwards. Is this safe or can it cause infection? I’m worried about punishing this type of behavior and our dog think she isn’t allowed near the rabbits at all.

Its fine. My dog licks my bunnies, and they’ve never gotten sick from it. Of course, if your dog is sick, keep him away from the rabbits (and vise versa), but under normal circumstances this is ok as long as it does not scare the bunny.

I personally wouldn’t want a dog licking my rabbits. Dogs can pick anything up when they’re out on a walk/playing in the garden and I wouldn’t wanna risk anything being transferred. Having said that, I don’t think you should punish your dog for doing it…just try and train him not too.

I would definitely discourage him licking inside their ears.
