I have 2 house rabbits, and am having a hard time finding a large cage for the both of them. I came across very large dog crate in the pet store with dimensions of 54 in. long x 37 in.wide x 45 in. high. it is similar to the one shown here http://www.forhappydogs.com/showproduct.aspx?ProductID=133&SEName=54-single-door-starter-series-dog-crate. Would this be safe for large rabbits? Thanks!

Should be fine. Quite a few people on here use dog crates for their buns Just make sure they have plenty of time outside the cage for exercise

Thank you so much!! And don’t worry, they get lots of exercise! They have a doggy door connected to a concrete lot that they can safely do binkies in, and not get there fur dirty

I use an extra large dog crate and an X pen and it works great! There is enough head room to add another level in the crate and your bun can hop around and get some exercise if you have to leave him in there for a little while.

Have you considered doing a puppy exercise pen for the housing? That would give more room and would probably be more cost-effective than a crate.

I have thought about the exercise pen, the only problem is one of my bunnies LOVES to climb/jump. I’d be afraid she’d find a way to escape! lol

i use a xl dog crate for my bonded pair with a level built into ti and my new bun (comming Sunday) will have a dog crae as well and they are going to have a feneced in area connected to the crates once i have the 3 of them bonded together so they will have an area of 6ftx4ft plus the 2 crates and the run of the room when i am home to moniter. just couldnt justify spending that kind of money on a cage when i had the crate just sitting around…
