I set this up for the rabbit I am getting tomorow and yes those are stuffed bunnies in there. The cage is 3.5 feet by 4.5 feet.

What are you using in the litter box – just newspaper? I don’t think you are going to find this to be as effective as other litters when it comes to keeping the litter box clean and the odor down.

Looks good to me everything your bun needs and quite spacious!

Thanks and It is just newspaper in the litter box but my plan is to clean it out twice a day. I want to use wood pellets but I can’t find them since the store that I got them from before stopped selling them.

Where’s the hay? I’d take the toy out of the litter box The space is nice! Maybe a tunnel or a grass mat to chew on?

I highly recommend you wrap the pen all the way around to door and walls (if you weren’t already planning to). Given enough time, the odds of your rabbit NOT eating the basboards and bottom of the door are a number approaching zero.

I would also recommend reaching out to try and find WSP. That newspaper will get very stinky very fast and after a couple weeks you will not want to be changing it twice a day. Been there.

I recommend you try and get something to cover the floor, or at least the corner. Bunnies LOVE to dig in corners. Can’t stress this enough. Poor corner guarding has cost me several hundred in damages.

Oh I agree with Equal too, baseboards are delicious Wrap the cage around as much as possible, I imagine you need to use the door on occasion so maybe wrap it so the end is at the door and you can open them together? And put a slab of cardboard over any wall you can cover with cage.

Thanks, I’ll put cardboard over the walls and doors. There are two doors in the cage. One is for a bookcase and I only open it a few times a year and the other door is for the bathroom so I use it every day. I have some .5 inch by .5 inch wire that I can staple to the walls and across the doorway over the cardboard. If you look closely at the boards that go around the door you can see were my last rabbit ate it.

You might need to rearrange something if its in the path of a bathroom you need to use often. A bunnys pen should be their space, and some will even get territorial over it. I only go in mine if they are out and about.

If you can’t find WSP look for horse stall bedding, or even feline pine (though it’s pricier and you want the unscented) is the same thing.

Thanks, I guess I will use the other door to get to the bathroom. Since she is so good with her litterbox habits I am letting her have the run of my room and so far she only gos back to the pen to use the litterbox and eat. There is a feed store right down the road from me so I’ll check out the horse stall bedding.

Also, wrapping the pen all around and securely connecting together is a very good idea for safety reasons.  I know my curious buns would figure a way to pull the pen out and sneak out or worse get caught inbetween and get hurt.

it all looks good except one thing, i dont think newpaper will be very absorbant and it will smell, i would use a brand bedding or straw, that works well for me.

Thanks, I decided to let her have free run of my room so she is never locked in the cage. The newspaper is working really good and I can only smell it if I leave it for four days. As long as I clean it every two or three days It works good.
