So, Zeus has begun “grooming” me when he’s cuddled up with me getting pets.  I consider it a compliment, I pet him and he licks me.   However, it kinda makes me a bit uneasy.. do they ever go from licking to nipping or biting?  Not as an aggressive thing, but do they ever do “love bites” like other animals do?

I don’t mind the licking, I just want to make sure I’m not gonna get nipped.

When bunnies groom each other they often use their teeth, so yes, a licking bunny might decide to use his teeth to groom you a little “better”. But if you make a high pitched yelp, he’ll get the idea that using teeth on soft human skin is a no-no and he probably won’t do it again. Since he hasn’t done it yet, he might already realize that teeth aren’t allowed.

Yeah, Eddie nips me. Just little tiny nibbles. Yes, it hurts like a little tiny pinch. Yes, I’ve squealed, told him “no bite”. He just gives me “the look” and goes back to grooming. LOL He only does the nibbling when he’s in serious groom mode – usually when we’re snuggling on the couch and he’s licking my face. When he just randomly comes up and licks my fingers, legs, or feet (whatever he can reach), he doesn’t nibble. Now, on occasion, he has mistaken a finger for a treat but I think all bunnies have done that at one time or another.

The nibbles are not as hard as a nip or a full out bite. It kind of feels like someone used the tips of their nails to pinch you, so it’s really not that bad. I’m more afraid of Eddie nipping me cause it hurts a lot more. lol
