        Hello everyone!

I have been thinking about getting Buttons a sister or brother. I was 1st told by the person I got Buttons from that male/female pairs bond easier than same gender pairs. But then I was reading up on some bunny facts today and I read that male/male pairs work the best. I know that same gender or male/female can both work with hard work. I would just like to try to get a small head start. And help the bonding gi as smoothly and stress free as possible.Buttons is neutered and I would of course get the new bun neutered/spayed if he/she wasnt already. I will probably 1st try bunny rescues with people who are experts at Bundy language and where Buttons would be able to meet the new bun 1st to see how it goes. But I would still like a small part in picking out a sibling for him. I had a female named Pumpkin but she passed away a few months… So I think I’m ready to get Buttons a new companion. So basically does gender have an impact on the bonding?

The easiest bond is thought to be male/female, BUT there’s plenty of happy male/male and female/female pairs. It’s really all about personality. My two boys were basically a love at first sight bond, whereas my male/female pairing were very difficult. Since your existing bun is male, you have a bit of a head start – it’s easier to bring a girl into a boy’s territory than the other way round, as female’s can be extremely territorial.

If you have bunny rescues nearby, then your idea sounds perfect! It’s great if the bunnies have a chance to meet each other first, and their body language on a first date can indicate if they’ll be a good match
