So dixie is free roam in the downstairs of my home. We just finished her wooden hutch for her to come and go as she pleases unless we are not home just as before with her tiny kennel style one. The new one we custom built is a mansion in comparison! It has 2 stories along with 5 rooms and a hiding/nesting room. The problem is she will not use the ramp and explore the territory. The ramp isn’t too steep and it has a good surface so she can grip and not slip. Granted I did just get it finished and used her fave salad to lure her to it but I would have thought she would have went exploring by now. I have placed pellets and hay in several rooms even a few of her snack pieces to motivate her and she won’t move from one spot! Is she afraid? Is she upset bc of the changes? Is it normal for her to not be exited about it just yet? How long should it take for her to warm up to the new space? I just want to make her super happy and really thought she would love this! Any advice on what I should have on each level as far as litter and food and sleep area etc? Maybe I have it set up in a way she doesn’t approve of???!! Like most buns she is very picky about “her things”! This is going to sound crazy but I wish my bun could talk 🤣

I’m sure she will start exploring soon, she just needs some time. 🙂  As far as the setup goes, could you post some pictures?

I too think this is just a matter of time and patience. Sooner or later, she’ll start to explore 😃

Pictures of her set up would be great.

I think we all wish our buns could talk at times!

I am trying to post pics but it says I am not allowed to upload media to this post. Any suggestions on how to do so? Also It is 6.5 ft long by 4.5ft tall. It has two levels. A door opens down into a ramp on the front bottom so she can walk down to exit and if I want to keep her inside the hutch I simply flip the door up. The entire bottom is open no divisions. From the bottom to the top floor I have a ramp leading up into a the second largest open room if she goes through that room their is a rounded cutout that she can fit through that leads to a room that has only that one rounded cutout for entrance and exit. I have her food and water and litter in here. It also has a built in hay rack that I can feed through the outside in hopes to minimize mess. Also the entire top raises off and is connected by a hinge so I can easily clean the entire top floor. I still have to put vinyl on the floors I was just so excited to give it to her I couldn’t wait for the final touches. I plan to make a few walls covered in some material she can play with it scratch at. As well as grass mats on some floors. I’d love to make her a grazing area her fav herbs but she’d eat herself to death. So maybe in the future. But she can come and go as she wishes and she has chose to stay in since I put her in it! Also she did finally start exploring but only after refusing food or hay for 12 hours and didn’t poo or anything! I was terrified but she went back to normal with some blueberry bribery !

You can upload pictures to your profile gallery. Once they are there, you can insert them into the post where you want them, or link to them in that post.

If you can’t make it work, please send me a PM and I’ll put your pictures up for you.
