I’m going to be making my bunnies some new diggy boxes.  In the past I have always used newspaper.  At work we have bags & bags of shredded computer paper.  I figure this paper would be perfect and there is tons here so I could make diggy boxes for just about forever!   My worry is the ink on the paper.  Does anyone know if this would be okay to use for them?  None of my bunnies are big chewers but they will nibble on the paper some and I don’t want to take the chance of harming them in any way.  Do you guys think it would be safe or should I just stick to the newspaper? Thanks!

Hmmm. Good question. Most if not all newspapers and phone books are soy-based, but I don’t honestly know the composition of regular ink and toner cartridges. My thought is that in shredded form, ink is going to be at a minimum, there will be a higher ratio of plain paper to printed paper, and a little bit wouldn’t hurt, but I’m interested to know what everyone else has to say…

It depends on the kind of ink that is on the paper. Most newspapers aer soy-based inks, so that is safe for them. If you aren’t sure about the kind of ink you use, I would stick to newspaper to avoid any negative effects the ink may have on your buns.

At least you can recycle your old comuter paper!
