I know I have talked on here before about cage options. Today I was thinking and
about 6 years ago when I had a different rabbit who has passed away now. I used
one of those cages that you see in petstores. It’s one of those cages that are
not suitable for rabbits. I was wondering if this cage now would be suitable for
Kamdyn? The cage I have now for kamdyn is one built out of NIC cubes. I love the
cage but now that kamdyn is disabled he is peeing outside of the cage alot I do
put lots of news paper down towels and fake sheepskin rugs ontop of that. I
finding I do have to clean the cage alot and being that the cage is made out of
Nic Cubes its harder to move around. I remember this cage being very easy to
clean and I loved that it had a plastic tray. I just want everybody tips on this
if it would be ok or not? Thanks

I apologize as I’m sure you’ve said it in another thread and I can’t find it in your profile, but what exactly is wrong with Kamdyn?

My plastic cage bottom was large, about 4′ x 4′, and it did help when Spockie was disabled. I lined the bottom with Palace Pet Bed carpet pieces because they absorb pee from incontinent pets. It contained the pee, the carpets were machine washable, and he felt comfortable and safe. Maybe you could get one of the smaller plastic cages for his sleeping overnight, and attach his xpen to the door for the time he is awake.

You might just lay down some plastic. I am thinking of those sheets you get for under your computer desk that you roll on. No sides, but would be a protective surface for under the xpen. Also a sheet of linoleum could work. The problem as you said is getting sides. Maybe a used cage for sale that is very large would work.

Thanks for the tips. Sam and Lady’s Kamdyn has a cancerous tumour on his spine which causes him to fall over and roll over. He can’t use a litterbox anymore so I have fake sherpa rugs down to wick away the urine. Since he doesn’t use a litter box anymore his pee squirts out all over the place. I remember when I used that cage from the pet store for my previous rabbit I liked it because it was easy to clean and the pee and poop stayed in the cage. Kamdyn can’t move around or even walk he scoots alittle bit to get around. I was hopping to find one that is a large one like his cage now his cage now is 28″W x 42″L. Thanks for the tips

Aww What about one of those plastic kiddie pools? If he doesn’t jump, something like that might be an option.

Aww! Sorry about your bun! I think a plastic kiddie would be great and they are pretty cheap and if you needed a fence around it you could just wrap and x-pen. Although, they might be kind of hard to find this time of year unless you live in a warm climate.
