Do you remember I told you all about the lady who upset Olly?

I did email the Deacon about her and he didn’t believe me and said that she was very upset that I told him to tell her not to come round and he shouted at me after Sunday service, I told the Father about it and told him it wasn’t a lie and I wouldn’t lie to a Deacon or to him and that I respect both of them.

I saw her today, she was at the church, I had gone there because I needed a document printing for my doctor and my printer doesn’t work, I had gone to see if the young lady there would print the document for me if I gave the church a donation, she wasn’t in and I saw the lady, I didn’t speak to her and tried to ignore her, I was stopped by the Father who said that there would be a meal of Fish and Chips, I said it sounded nice and he invited me, I told him it was very kind of him to invite me but I have an allergy to wheat, I have to have special flour and pasta and other things, that lady was listening in, I asked when the young lady would be there and the Father said the office was closed and the computer was broken and the lady would be back maybe on Monday.

I left and there was an old lady worried about a Taxi, I said that I’m sure it was on its way, that nasty woman came out and I had got to the bottom of the ramp (Because steps are difficult for me) she shouted my name and asked if I was OK, I ignored her, I know there is a thing called ‘Forgive and forget.’ but I can’t forgive or forget when she upset my Olly boy, she shouted. “Oh, she’s ignoring us, Father invited her for a meal she’s on Gluten free, so its not good enough, not good enough for you is it? Bet you came here begging for money.” I carried on walking and on the way back she was at the top of the steps with some people and shouted. “Father isn’t in, stop begging round here.” I heard a lady say. “She doesn’t does she?” She said. “Oh she does, every 3 days and she won’t go in the church cafe, nothings there is good enough for her, the cakes aren’t Gluten free and she won’t have a cup of tea in there, she can’t have milk, not good enough for you is it?”

Does anyone know what I can do about this woman?

The best approach is as BanditCamp said, in my opinion. Smile & wave, ignore the barbs. She’ll be so frustrated that it appears she’s not getting to you. And her true colours will reveal themselves to those around her. She already acted that way in front of others in this incident. They won’t necessarily believe what she said about you. Sorry you’re having to deal with the nastiness in the first place though, CA!

There is a petty part of me that would say, talk to the Father again but phrase it in the way of asking for ‘advice’. Simply acknowledge that yes, you know you’ve brought up this woman before but this time she publically – in front of witnesses of all things – is telling people that you’re a begger and that you’re too good for them rather than having an allergy. While you’d like to leave the matter, the fact she’s now spreading ill words about you to others makes it hard to know what to do. With that in mind, what would he do?
