When we built the condo we originally did not have carpet on the bottom floor until Lilly tried to jump up onto the second floor and fell because she slipped.. but now they are eating the carpet so much that we can’t afford to keep buying new ones.. do you think a stepper will work?  what are your experiences with jumping and what is underneath them so they wont slip?

        thanks!!

Hi LillyBear, carpet is not necessary, you can also use rag rugs, seagrass mats, old towels. Traction is really important when a rabbit jumps and you can also use a tile in that spot as well – I flip mine up-side down for more traction, if they are the natural stone ones that are polished on one side. They also provide a cool spot for them in the summer.

I agree that some kind of soft flooring is important, to be good on their feet, and also for the traction like Scarlet_Rose mentioned. What kind of carpet are you purchasing? I usually go to stores like Ross or Big Lots to purchase the in-expensive carpet squares that they have. Also, my bunnies chew on fleece blankets a lot less than other blankets, but these are not as good at providing traction because they can slip easily. You could also look into some of the flooring items they sell at home improvement stores, I’ve seen some kind of rubber stuff they sell on rolls that looks like it could be glued to the floor where the bunny’s taking off point is
