Where we are moving to in SC has a dish washer (along with a washer/dryer and a garbage disposal)

Anyway, I’m just wondering what you (or if your under 18, yer parents) use. Whats better? the packets or liquid soap? which brand do ya’ll like?

We are moving in less than three days…and there is still so much to do!!!   But I am sooo excited!!!

I use my dishwasher ALL the time. We use the Cascade powder (not packets or gel). We get it for a good price at Sam’s Club which is why we use it and it works great. Good luck with your moving. =)

We have one that came with the house but it’s not hooked up and I couldn’t find a place to connect it. o.O At our old place though I liked the cascade gel/powder packets, the tabs are just SOOOOOOOOOO much easier to use than the liquid or powder. Just place one in, close the thing, shut the door, turn on. Be sure to pre rinse dishes when you use them though, the hard stuck on stuff is hard for a dish washer to get off.

I buy Cascade. We used the powder for a while (DH’s preference) but were having a lot of issues with residue (it was so easy to add too much when pouring). We switched to the liquid then and haven’t had issues, though we also adjusted the settings on our fancy new dishwasher to work with the hard/softness of our water. The dishwasher also stores a whole bottle of liquid and doses out exactly what you need, so that’s helped (I always accidentally dumped in too much). We also added a rinse aid recently, but I’m not sure I like putting even more chemicals in there so I’d prefer to stop using it.

Our old apartment had a standard dishwasher and we used the powder there for years without a problem, so I think it’s a whole combination of what your water is like (we currently have very soft well water, which I’m finding is different than the tap water I’ve been used to), your settings, and your dishwasher itself. I’d buy a small size of one brand or type and try it out. If you don’t like it, it’s only a small package so you can quickly try another one.

If I didn’t have a dishwasher I would be a very grumpy girl.

I use Cascade as well, the gel stuff. The powder leaves too much residue, and the packet things just don’t seem to work as well for me. <3 the gel.

Mike… that would have been epic.

Haha yeah tin foil works well too My boyfriend doesn’t rinse out his dishes… so he leaves like pieces of chocolate pebbles cereal stuck to the sides of the bowls and then the poor dish washer had to try to get that off, which didn’t work at all, I can barely get them off without soaking the thing. lol If it’s too bad I just yell at him to come clean it off cause I refuse to scrub for 10 minutes to get something off he could have prevented with 5 seconds of effort.

Mike, ooooh, we should have one of those… mashed banana on plate + bun would probably work.

Cute Abbygirl! I like the cascade gel combo pack things. I think I would die without a dishwasher though. My hands don’t like being in water too long! But anyway, note about the packs, they’re really good with men. Meaning it’s easy to instruct them what to do when its just put the pack in there instead of trying to explain an amount to put in. Probably would be good for kids who do chores too! (sorry if this offends, this is just what my life is like living with all boys :/)

AbbyGirl, Can I steal that picture to put in my bunny book I’m making for my daughter? That pic is soo cute.

i think I may try to get Bud to help me with the “dishes” now…lol

Sure! That’s a picture of Hugo (my first Flemmie). He jumped in the dishwasher every time the door opened.

I’m the dishwasher at my house. It’s my most hated chore ever because it has to be done every flippin day!

I remember you posting that pic of Hugo. So adorable.

                                        *Raises her hands*

I’ve never had a dishwasher. My parents never had one in the house (they still don’t), and the two houses we’ve rented do not have dishwashers. So it’s all me (and my husband who helps from time to time).

A side note, I’m sure I’d gladly use a dishwasher if I had one, but I’m sooo picky on dishes/silverware/drinkware. When we have dinner over someone’s house, I always find myself trying to stealthily inspect the silverware for leftover food, and wipe spots from my glass. I’m a bit of a control freak, so I like knowing that when I wash a dish, it’s gonna be CLEAN.

Let us know how your move goes! That does sound like it’s going to be a crazy adventure! Despite the madness, try and snap a few pics on your way down!

Oh definitly. It’s so beautiful down there. I feel like we are going on a permanent vacation…but I kinda got to get out of that mindset. lol

i’ver never had a dishwasher…and I’m excited that we will have one because I HATE doing dishes…especially if something gets left on the stove over night….YUCK!

I use cascade packets. I love cooking, so I do the cooking at this house! (I still live with my parents) I soak anything that had really greasy or “crumby“  things. I then put them in the dishwasher. I love when the dishes are done, and when you opeen it aallll the steam and hotness flows out! It’s pretty fun. Man, I am so childish

guys dont need dishwashers,, i mean,, if you have a fork you can just lick it clean between meals.
you really only need to wash it if there’s dried stuff on there, like if youre eating frosting out of the tub and you accidentally let it dry on there,, that’s understandable.

Mike, sadly that is true in this house. The boyfriend doesn’t put dishes in the sink, so he always has a silverware stash over by his desk and he just uses a dirty spoon he used for like soup the day before and licked clean after he was done for the next meal. It’s so gross!  I try to take them to clean them off and he’s like “you don’t need to do that, give it back”…
