  i was just wondering if rabbits like music before i play any. i play the guitar, and i don’t know if they’re going to like it, or they’re going to be afraid of it.

  It’ll depend on the rabbit. Think of it as a presentation of sounds. Typically classical goes well with rabbits because it’s mellow and there isn’t too much sharp contrasts. The opposite is like electronic music, where sharp sounds come in sporadically and it’s difficult to habituate to it.
  
  Try out your music and see how your rabbits react! Wick doesn’t mind the TV, which is quite random in noise, so it’ll be based on your rabbits’ tolerances.

  Like wick says It depends on the bun. My bun personally is scared by a lot of sounds so I can’t play music with her in the room. But I do tend to sing a lot so if we’re cuddling sometimes I’ll quietly sing her a song and she loves that. She always closes her little eyes and gives me tooth purrs so just experiment and see what happens!

  I play violin, trumpet and cello and my rabbits never seemed to care so just try it out and see how your rabbits react.

  It depends a lot on the bun, the kind of music that you play and the instruments. The only way you can know is by observing your buns while you play a bit. Rabbits aren’t fond of sudden new noises, so it’s probably best to go slow. It helps to build a positive association: reward them with treats or some pettings while you strike a couple of notes, they can get a bit of time to adjust to it and will learn to associate it with something good.
  
  I listen to a wide variety of music, which also includes folk metal. This is a very upbeat metal genre which uses folk instruments like violins and flutes. I’ve never seen Breintje respond to it in a negative way, not even on the high notes. What he does hate is the neighbour’s dance music with loud bass thumps (these make the floor vibrate). It makes him very nervous, but I guess that’s logical because rabbits signal danger by thumping their feet. His instincts must be going wild then
