Diustor’s New House!

I want to share with avid and in-love bunny owners everywhere Dustor’s new big wooden house. We built it and I set it in his pen with a fleece mat on the bottom with the water-resistant side up, the other evening and he was excited but leary of going into that big dark entrance!  But come day, he was completely settled in. As you can see from his droppings on the fleece mat on the roof (which has a moisture-resistant bottom side) he makes use of the roof as well, once the lights are out for the night. When I get up in the middle of the night and go past, I see him up there looking at me.   I got it from a European company that doesn’t ship to the US unfortunately, only to a slew of European countries including the UK; a lady I know in Germany shipped it from their German store to me.  I figure it’s the last bunny house I’ll ever need!  Yes, that little powder-puff inside is Dustor and he’s one happy camper with all that room to himself! lol  And so am I!

Aw! The house is so cute! How much did it all cost for the house including all the shipping you had to spend to get it delivered?

Thanks! Somebody once told me I have good taste (I think it was a salesclerk!) lol Mocha, I got it at zooplus.com. It’s called Nature Plus Small Pet House with Hayrack I left out the hayrack to make more space for Dustor.As you can see, in US dollars, it’s about $36 or so for the larger one, which I got. As for shipping from the lady in Germany to me via DHL, you don’t want to know! On the other hand, it’s probably the last bunny house I’ll ever need (would accommodate 2 or 3 buns easily, maybe even 4 if they want to snuggle!) If you know somebody in the Old Country, maybe you could hint it’s what you want for Christmas, or your birthday? They have 22 European branches.

Wait – that’s not all! You don’t think if I’m going to export something from Germany I would just order one house, do you? No, I went all out to give my buns a grand Christmas! From zooplus.com, I also got the Pueblo Cat Den which I call: Petie’s Hacienda! lol  It’s made from woven willow and he loves to hop on the “veranda” and lounge inside on two grass mats I put down for him to lounge on and nibble. It, too, is roomy enough for a flemmie or 2, or about 6 or 8 bunnies!  Petie loves it, both levels.

 Plus, if you look up ‘bench” at the site, I got them each one of those!  So, of course shipping included these 2 huge houses plus the benches, although the store didn’t charge any shipping to ship to my acquaintance in Germany because if your purchase is a minimum total, shipping is free. So i just reimbursed the lady what she paid at the post office to ship to me.  My bunnies are two happy campers!  It’s a great store, I’d buy more if they shipped to the US.

I hope I don’t sound like I’m bragging about having found a way to get some neat items from a store that doesn’t ship to the US. I just wanted you all to know what’s out there, and I haven’t heard zooplus.com mentioned before in the forum. I honestly wish I could be a Santa Claws to all of you in the US and Australia and find a way to get these houses to you for the New Year if not by Christmas so all our buns could enjoy them!

I agree with you, kinggoblin. The Revolutionary War is over and done with, we accepted the Beatles with open arms, are we not friends with the UK? It’s like they hold some kind of grudge against the US and it’s beyond me why.

I did send an email to zooplus.com suggesting that they would get lots of business from the USA if they would ship to the US and Australia but I didn’t expect it to move any mountains:

Kinda had to laugh Lash, that bench is cute, but wont fit a full flemmie comfortably

You should write the company and ask, it looks super shiny like its lacquered in the customer photos? Might be worth making sure its untreated and stuff

The benches I got are like the roof of the house in the first pic – throughout – like dark brown tree bark – no lacquer, no smooth wood. Which I kinda like better, even though they’re not as pleasing to the eye, like the little park benches in their pic, for the very reason you mention. And yeah, even the larger benches which I got, supposedly, will barely fit even a dwarf lionhead like mine! More for a guinea pig or ferret.
