        Hi
I’m the proud owner of two very mischievous house rabbits,
I was just after some advice really, I check both of my rabbits bottoms daily, but one has a very mucky bum most days, I always clean him up as I’m well aware of fly strike prevention, they are fed on a diet of good quality hay & a small amount of pellets, they have 2 handfuls of kale daily, I’m wondering would it be the kale that is causing this problem, he passes normal plops it’s just his Cecotropes are very messy.
Any help would be gratefully received.
        TIA

He could be sensitive to kale, so I’d try exchaning that for an other veg (for example romaine lettuce) and see if that helps. Some buns are prone to poopy butt though, and can only tolerate a very small amount of fresh greens. My bunny Bam was like that – his poopy butt would recur now and then regardless of his diet. Some vegs were a complete no go though, he could for example never have carrot or poopy butt was a fact.

Lots of hay is as a rule the best thing for a poopy-butt prone bun. There are also probiotics ou can sprinkle on the bun’s greens. Benebac is much used with our members, but there are other brands depending on where you’re located.

Thank you Bam, I’ll eliminate the kale & see how we go, I do have some probiotic powder I think I might try it x
