I’ve never heard this and I cannot imagine how that would be better for digestive health. I think people do that so they can forage for their pellets to keep them from possibly overeating.

I can see where that might mentally stimulate a food motivated bunny- and they will be engaged in feeding longer with less time for other boredom behaviors.

HaHa..I actually do this for Jack (well did this, since he no longer gets pellets) But this is what the webcam description says for the 5pm feeding
5PM: Dinner of pellets. (I spread around their cage – better for digestive system to forage instead of quick consumption from bowl)

The reason I started doing this in the first place was for Bailey. She had a huge appetite, poopybutt, and movement issues due to e.cuniculi. This helped solved several problems all at once. It stopped her from stuffing her system all at once with a calories and carbs, it forced her to move around to get her food and that helped with both with maintaining her strength and  helped with the severity of her digestive problems.

I continued this with Jack and Rucy. Though they don’t/didn’t have digestive problems that I knew of at the time, this certainly was something that I only saw as good for them.

I remember my vet saying she did this for her bunnies or she did it for one of her bunnies (I can’t remember the exacts now), and after seeing positive results, I just kept up with it.

That is definitely a good idea for a boredom buster… I think I might do that as well! You could also take the pellets and divide the quarter cup in half and feed half at night and half during the day.
