I want to try to make an area that my bunnies can dig it. They’ve never really shown an interest in digging…. but I really wanna try!

I don’t want to do anything extravagant, as they could have no interest in it. I could make something better and more permanent if it goes well.

I was thinking just a tupperware box. What do I put for them to dig in? Dirt? This is probably really stupid… but where do you get safe dirt?

Just… I need “Diggy Box 411” Or would it be 101? These type of things confuse me!

No dirt. That would be too messy and would make for a dirty bunny, house… and who knows what’s inside the dirt.

Try a cardboard box with a door cut out and shredded newspapers inside. Or what I did, I removed the door from one of my smaller plastic pet carriers, and stuffed newspaper in there for digging/shredding.

I bought a paper shredder, plastic tote and recycled copy paper. The tote is a larger square type that I cut two holes out of and filled it with the shredded recycled paper from the shredder. Bella couldn’t be happier. She loves it. First I tried a box with Baxter but he ruined as he peed in it. lol. I use the plastic tote because you don’t have to replace it and you can clean it from time to time. It is also a cool surface. She often jumps up on top of it and lays there to relax! I have a really cute video of her digging in it that I can post if you want.

The pet carrier idea is good too if you have an extra one that is a good size.
