A few days ago I let my chook Sienna out for some garden time. ( odd to have 1 chook, I know – that’s another story..) I’ve been letting Jersey out at same time and she will approach chook time and time again. Usually the chook will try peck her to get her to back off but she persists. Anyhow, I was inside and the back door was open. I saw the chook come inside the doorway and rush to shoo it out. She jumped right back in and i prodded her down the back step again while Jersey, still outside, watched on. The chook toddled off and THEN Jersey ran at me, paws forward, tummy arching down and ears up and growled! LIke she was guarding her friend!!! I couldn’t help but laugh. She was like a little puppy showing some spunk. I thought she’d be more put out having the chook invade her domain. She often growls to let me know she’s displeased ie. when I get her out of her hidey spot to put her to “bed”. Do you think I read it right? Was she defending the chook??? It was very comical!
