Please help! I just got home and after the gym and saw that Takoda had this slushy poop in his cage! It is the same color as his pellets but looks like if you passed it through a food processor and it is very mosit / wetish.

I let them out this morning for some bonding time and Tigerlily humped him but then they played! and groomed.

I dunno what to do! Is this serious? He has been pooping fine but I did notice he would get his chin wet when he would drink from the crock so i changed the crock to a water bottle. He has been eating pellets and plenty of hay!

are you feeding him the same pellets as at the rescue? same brand, same type, same amount?

changes in diet, if not introduced gradually, can cause soft poop. without knowing more info, that’s my first guess.

they did not feed him pellets at the rescue

He got into TigerLilys cage yesterday and started eating her pellets and was fine so this morning I put some out for him. Is there anything that will make him better? He seems perky and ok I held him just now but Im going to go buy fresh veggies right now and was wondering if something in particular would make him better.

if your plan is to feed him pellets, the same type Tigerlily gets, give him a tiny bit of pellets in a couple days. very little, maybe a teaspoons worth. see how he does, make sure he doesn’t have runny poop. if all is well, after a couple days of that you can increase a little bit more…

provide plenty of water and hay. If the condition persists I’d suggest getting a fecal float done at your local vets. Don’t worry they are fairly cheap.

Good stuff!! It was probably from him getting some pellets and not being used to them
