A friend of mine told me today that she used to have a rabbit as a child, but it frustrated her mother so much that she put it in diapers!! I bent over laughing so hard. I informed her that they can be litterbox trained, she thought my bunny was a GENIUS .  haha. Just thought you might all enjoy the mental image of some poor rabbit hopping around with a diaper on.

I know some people use diapers when rabbits become incontinent later in life. But the big issue with that is keeping them clean and preventing any type of urine scalding. For a healthy rabbit, this is just ridiculous… and may pose a health hazard.

I also heard of diapers for geriatric bunnies that are incontinent. Not a comfortable way to live for a bunny, but they are so trainable because they love to be clean, so it’s better than not being able to use a litter pan anymore. It is a strange picture to imagine.

Not to mention the consumption of cecals/night droppings? I highly doubt this child/mother knew that she had to feed certain poops to her rabbit.

If I put a diaper on any of my rabbits I’m positive it would be ripped into little shreds!!!

LPT, I’m sure if I atttempted to but any of mine in a diaper I would be the one ripped to shreds.

I don’t know.. the thought of it just doesn’t amuse me at all. It’s cruel and not good for buns that are healthy to have a diaper on them.

                      that would look totally strange.

Maybe now that she is older she can get a bunny and train it this time around.   If she wants a bunny that is.

Cool that she thinks your bunny is so smart.    They are smart

Can you imagine even trying to diaper one? Oh well, maybe it was just for the indoor time.

Wasn’t there someone who had young rabbits & were unsure if they were of age to mate, so they put diapers on them for play time?

Brittany, your comment made me LOL.

Ugh. Yes there was. Two angora rabbits if I remember correctly. Some people are just ridiculous.
