Both of my buns are male 12 week old holland lops. They have surgeries scheduled for next month for their neuters. In the meantime, is it mean to strip away their semi-free roam life? They are in separate cages due to a fight 2 weeks ago, but we let them out one at a time to freely roam the living room. They had been fine, but obviously hormones are kicking in, and they’re now digging/chewing everything in sight as well as pooping everywhere and running under the couch. Is it bad if I just set up an x-pen in the living room instead until after they are fixed? I really don’t want to, especially because they both love exploring and running around, but I see no other option. Picking up their poo takes at least a half hour every night after their back in the cage, and our carpets are slowly getting destroyed. We’ve tried spray bottles and loud noises, and even treats leading away from naughty areas, but none of it works. So like I said, is giving them just an X-pen enough until they’re neutered?
