I’ve had my rabbits for 7 weeks now. Both male and female from the same litter. I’ve separated them 3 days ago while I wait for the male to be neutered (12 weeks old). My male has always been full of personality, always happy and social. Today he has not come out of his house to play. I have both indoor and outdoor enclosures side by side so they can still see each other but my female became disinterested in him within a day. I feel terrible! He is acting completely out of character and I feel like I’ve done something wrong. Any ideas please??

It could be a health related issue, not depression. Lack of movement, eating, passing feces and urine can be signs of gi stasis or other health concerns. What signs are you seeing behavioral wise, specifically? Out of character may actually be signs of health problems.

Thanks Wick – unfortunately you were right. My sweet boy passed away last night and I have no idea what happened!
One day he was happy and energetic then the next day he passed away.
He was eating and drinking right up until i popped him is his hutch, half an hour later i checked on him and he was gone. Because he chose to stay in his little house I couldn’t tell if he was passing urine and faeces as normal. I didn’t realise it could happen so unexpectedly.
Very, very sad for our family.

Sorry to hear about this KayKay. It’s good that you and your family provided him with water and food and a nice hutch, so I’m sure he passed in a loving environment. Wishing you and your family the best. Never hesitate to post and ask further questions.

I’m so very sorry. I had a bunny pass very suddenly. It’s very hard.
