Call me self-conscious, but I am a girl who has multiple bunnies and am afraid that it’ll be hard to date because of this. This started with a friend telling me that he thought bunnies were gross 8-O, which started us down a path that led to him and his friends saying that bunnies could be a deal breaker. I NEVER thought about something like this and since I have never had a boyfriend in my 22 years of life, I am little afraid. I have 3 bunnies who I would never give up. I know this may be dumb to a lot of people, but I would really like to hear if having bunnies has ever effected your dating life, especially if you have 3 or  more. What are your experiences? It’d be great to hear from men and women just in case anyone else wonders about this.

I am very likely a crazy bunny lady, but I think it would be a good test of character! If they don’t like bunnies, then I wouldn’t want to be around them anyway! My husband loves our bunnies just as much as I do. I only had 1 when we started dating… I currently have 4 after 11 years of being together… so maybe i’m not the best person to comment on this LOL.

Idk who would say bunnies are gross! I mean they can be messy for sure… but gross? Although, I will say I had a friend who’s only experience with bunnies was that his family had two angora rabbits in a hutch outside growing up that they never groomed and rarely interacted with. So their fur was a mess and they were just kind of “gross” and sad. He currently is engaged to someone with a wonderful house rabbit who free-roams, and he’s told me “he totally gets it now” and they are planning to get a second to bond with the current bun. People might be a bit surprised at first, but usually it’s because they don’t know what it’s like to have a house rabbit or a bonded group. Maybe having some cute pictures of them all snuggled up will be a good intro to them. 🙂

I honestly find it really strange that anyone would call a bunny gross. Maybe because they poop a lot? But, they can be litter trained and as long as their area is cleaned up everyday, it’s not bad. Maybe that would change their mind.

I think anyone who would not want to date you just because you have rabbits should be a deal breaker for you! Like they aren’t dating your rabbit, they should like you for you. Rabbits are an innocent interest and anyone who truly loves you will be with you for who you are.

My boyfriend likes my bunnies and he knows how important they are to me. Sure, he doesn’t wanna see their poop, but I can just clean it up and it’s not a problem. Most of the issues with dating+bunnies I have is the time I have to be away with syringe feeding, vet visits, giving meds, and cleaning.

That aside, if you do have anyone over and you introduce them to the buns, let them know how to properly pet a rabbit and make sure they know they can get scared easily! And maybe clean up a bit first… lol!

I’ve never had more than 1 bunny at a time, but it’s never caused any issues with dating for me. I’ve definitely never had anyone think they are gross or anything like that. Generally I find that my dates know nothing about bunnies and have never really interacted with them before, so they don’t know much or assume they would be a boring pet. I always take it as a good chance to educate people on how smart they are and have such huge personalities. Generally they are quite shocked after meeting my rabbit and think they are fun. It’s always ended up being a positive experience. My boyfriend had never met a rabbit before Phoebe, and he now loves to sit and play with her and give her her daily supplements.

I hope your friends are just teasing you with this, I wouldn’t want to be friends with someone who actually felt that way, forget about dating them. Even if this is their honest opinion they should keep it to themselves. It’s not something you say to a friend.

Either way, I wouldn’t date anyone who had an issue with my pets. Like Dana said, it would be a good test of character.

Are we allowed to link to products from other sites? Because I have a t-shirt with a cute picture and it says “never trust a man who doesn’t like rabbits” and I think you need this 😀 I got my boyfriend before my rabbits but I made it pretty clear to him that I will never abandon any animal so if he doesn’t like it that’s his problem. Luckily he really likes them! Just be up front that you have pets who you really love and will never abandon and if they’ve never been around rabbits then they’ll have to get to know them to see if it’s a deal breaker because you and your bunnies are a package deal.
