i was cleaning lulu’s cage a little bit ago and i found flood on a tile. so i look at her feet and she has a cut! and on the other foot she had duck tape stuck to her foot! i think she chewed the duck tape that had the sharp zip tie ends under and got it stuck to her foot then got cut! then we couldn’t peel it off so we had to cut it off. so when my mom was cutting it off she jerked her foot and the scisers cut her. i have never cut her nails before cuz my mom wont help me cuz she got heert last time she tried to cut mocha’s and my dad is always busy andi noticed one of her nails has dried blood ( i think she chipped it or somthing) and i tried to cut her nails but i was aboout to cut it to short and she flinched. what should we do for her feet! how should we help the cuts!
Turn the zip ties around so that they point outwards on the cage. That way they can’t hurt themselves on it. Sometimes they are hard to turn, so you may have to cut that zip tie off and put another one out with the pointy part pointing out.
Also, you could put some blankets down for her if you think it will hurt her to walk on them. Sorry I don’t have any other advice!
Good luck!!!
Some Neosporin WITHOUT the pain relief should help. Stay away from duct tape, as it’s bad if they chew on it, just keep the sharp ends of the zip ties turned outwards, where little bunny feet can’t get cut ![]()
i would have had to re do the whole thing almost cuz i didn’t know that when i made it. so i am not using that cage for now. i got this cream from the vet for mocha when he had a big cut can i use that cream?
If her foot is bleeding from a cut with the scissors- you really should take her to the vet. Cuts on the foot are going to be especially to keep clean and not get them infected. She might need an oral antibiotic- and I would be cautious about using the cream before asking your vet. Bunnies have very furry feet- so it is possible that if you use the cream- she will be able to ingest a fair amount of it when grooming- and she will them be “taking” it orally which may not be OK for a bunnies sensitive tummy.
I also think a visit to the vet would be best. In addition, your vet can examine her feet, trim her nails, and make sure everything is as healthy as possible while treating the cuts.
For regular nail trimming sessions where you might cut the quick, keep a small container of corn starch with you so you can dab it on the toe when it starts to bleed to stop the bleeding. But it is NOT a treatment for a regular cut such as this.
Just push on the zip ties to twist them around, you won’t have to re do the whole cage.

my dad cut her nails last night except for one or two nails cuz she was getting frustrated. i asked if i could take her to the vet but my parents said no. they said ” every time you get i cut we don’t take you to the vet.” i wish i could rap her foot or something. we don’t have any Neosporin should i try the cream from the vet? do you want me to tell you what the cream is called?
I think the difference here is you are a human— when you put ointment on your foot you are not going to lick it off, when you bandage your foot you are not going to rip it off with your teeth and then walk around in your poo (litterbox) with a cut foot.
Is the cut deep? A vet is ideal to prevent infection. You could call your vet and ask if the cream that you got from them would work and ask for their suggestions. Though they may ask to see your bunny, they may just give you some tips since your bunny has already been there before (??)
yes i could probably call. the thing is is the place were i got the cream from lulu has never gone to. but mocha has. he isn’t a very good vet, for any kind of animal we just go there cuz he was cheep. but he knows stuff its just he is kinda ditsy.
Poor lulu!! Hope her feet get better! I also heard that neosporin is ok….?
yeah i should go pick some up next time i am in town.
oh i found some off brand neosporen in our first aid kit will that work?
I’m sure if it has the SAME ingredients as Neosporin….make sure it doesn’t have that pain relief stuff in it….then it should be ok….
Usually off brands are the same exact stuff…it just doesn’t have the popular name to it….
I’m not 100% sure though so maybe someone else on here has a suggestion?????
I would make sure to call your vet though and see what they suggest….they made to give a perscription…..
it is not pain relief. my mom said it is the same stuff just off brand so i think it would be ok to.
She is doing better! the cut from the zip tie healed on its own the only cuts she has now is from the scissors and i put some off brand stuff on it. here is a video of her after i put the stuff on! she doesn’t seem to notice it at all. ( don’t mind our little cute brat clara meowing in the background.)
YAY, I’m so happy she seems to be doing ok!
Your cat is too cute, it wanted to be in the video too!!
I am so happy to see she doesn’t seem to be in any obvious discomfort or pain. That’s great. Keep a close eye on the cuts though.
