curtains

 A couple weeks before my bridge bunny died my mom bought me these really pretty floor length curtains for my room, he never chewed on anything he wasn’t supposed to for some reason and so the curtains were perfectly safe and so was he. Wilbur and Totoro don’t really chew on anything I don’t want them to, basically they chew their carboard all the time, toys, and have gotten into my school books a couple times (whoops ). I’ve never experienced having a rabbit that chews on baseboards or carpet or the furniture so I guess sometimes I forget about the potential of that happening. I mean, obviously I keep stuff like clothes, plastic bags, ect. off the floor. I keep my curtains down and Wilbur and Totoro haven’t ever chewed on them yet so far but sometimes they’ll run behind them. I thought that if I ever see them chewing on them then I’d stop using the curtains. Do you guys think it’s impratical of me to keep curtains down when I have two rabbits? Should I rely on them not so far having shown any interest after months? Is it dangerous?

I’d like to hear anyones thoughts

You can try wiping the edges with a perfume. Just to an inconspicuous corner first to make sure it doesn’t ruin the color or something.
Most bunnies are completely turned off by the smell. If worse comes to worst and nothing works, maybe the curtains could be tailored up?

That’s a good idea with the perfume, exactly the type of surface that would take them My bunnies don’t chew anything ever either. I really don’t have to worry about things now that they are older, they are pretty tame Before this last move, they lived in a bedroom for three years. Then one day they pulled a strip of baseboard off, didn’t chew it and didn’t keep doing it. So there may be surprises from time to time, but for the most part if they aren’t investigation-destruction kind of bunnies it’s easy to bunnyproof Your of the lucky few!

I have floor length curtains in the dining room (aka bunny room) and living room. Hannah has put a couple holes in one of the dining room curtains (you can only see it if you look closely), but since they’re locked up while I’m gone the damage she can cause is minimal. Neither of them have ever chewed the living room curtains – they just run behind them sometimes.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having them, just make sure they’re cheaper ones so you won’t be upset if they get a hole or two. Mine were originally tablecloths from Target that I hemmed and hung up, so they’re cheap to replace.

No I wouldn’t worry about it if you’ve had them that long with no problems. Of course anything can happen. The main thing is that they have plenty of other stuff to do and play with so they probably will never be bored enough to bother the curtains.
