I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

“Whatcha doin mom?”

I was hoping she’d bite his tail, but no luck… haha

Eww I need to trim her toenails haha

i love the ones where they are eatin hay together!!! soooo cute!!! you piggy is like a mini bunny, the way she is posing properly for pictures!!
Aw, they look really cute together! I have the same hay holder ^^
She looks like she worships Frankie lol. Does Frankie visit her often?
*stamps feet* I’m TRYING to talk Dave into a guinea pig for Chuck
Now I’m really motivated to whine
LOL
Those pics are sooo cute!! Where’s the other piggie?
How cute! Look how ginormous Frankie looks next to that little piggy!
Lesley, I totally agree- Chuck does need a guinea pig friend
Do you have to go through the same bonding process with guinea pigs and bunnies?
what great pics! your pig is so cute. oh Frankie! does he hang in there often?
Lesley: that would be an interesting idea, getting a pig for Chuck. of course, you’d have to account for dietary differences, but since Chuck doesn’t jump, you could have just a single level area for them both. and i’m sure he wouldn’t be aggressive at all. i would seriously do more research on that topic.
Aw very cute pictures. They seem to get on really well together.
Personally though i wouldnt recommend keeping a rabbit and guinea pig together unless supervised at all times. I had rabbits when i was younger and bought a piggy and bunny together. I had them about 3 months and came out to the garden one morning to find my poor piggy dead. The vet said he had probably been kicked by my rabbit. It was probably a complete accident as they were great friends but none the less it killed my poor piggy.
Im not sure about other countries but keeping these two animals together has become quite frowned upon over here and in the UK and SPCA’s will not rehome these animals together.
There are quite afew reasons not to keep rabbits and guinea pigs together. I saw this article that explains it better than i can:
http://www.petwebsite.com/article_read.asp
I hope im not upsetting anyone on the forum. That is not my intention
I guess after experiencing first hand what a rabbit can do to a piggy i would never advocate placing these different species in the same living environment .
same here actually Luna, you’re right, it can be very dangerous, esp if the pig doesn’t have an area he or she can get to away from the bun. in KokaneeandKahlua’s case, her Chuck is deaf and blind and spends most of his time just laying around. the other rabbits like him well enough, but they do their own thing. even if they only had supervised paytime, Chuck still might benefit from that.
Frankie used to visit the piggy cage a lot when his was next to it, but less often now. But since I hung a hay rack back up for Bullit, Frankie’s had a renewed interest. Haha.
K&K – my Abyssinian g-pig (Toejam) that matched Frankie’s coloring was bossing around Bullit so I separated them. I felt bad, so I found a new home for Toejam with another Abyssinian. She has been renamed Cupcake and lives with a b&w Abyssinian named Moo. They get along wonderfully and she seems much happier. Guess she was just a piggy racist!
And Luna answered the other question – piggies and bunnies can get along fine supervised with no bonding, but shouldn’t be housed together.
awww no more Toejam??
I will miss the matching pictures!!!
K&K — what a cool idea to get a piggy friend for Chuck! Sweet little Chucky deserves it! I always joked that I wanted to get Boston a turtle to take pictures w/….the tortoise and the hair. Somehow just saying “Hey Jared, doesn’t Boston need a pet turtle?” just wasn’t conivincing enough!
lol….obviously mean “Hare” not “Hair” !!! ![]()
Aw sorry guys, I didnt realize the situation with Chuck. Thanks for explaining and hope i didnt come across all preachy
you didn’t at all luna! you gave some great info and made great points!
not at all Luna! you are correct, really they shouldn’t be housed together, but i think in this situation it might work. even if the pig was put away at night just in case and they had time to play during the day…
i was very sorry to hear about you losing your pig, i can imagine that was upsetting…
Chuck is so cute! What a little trooper. And Frankie is adorable as always. plus he has a great name
I had 2 pigs but both have passed. One lived to 10, the other died at 4 from a recurrent tooth abscess. I syringe fed him several times a day for two months, but he was still way under weight and the vet agreed it was best to put him down. He and the other pig lived together but more “tolerated” each other than loved each other. Frank (the rabbit) kept the little guy company on supervised visits during his troubling time. I think it comforted him.
Its great Chuck can have a friend. Sometimes it seems both pigs and bunnies get along better with those of different species.
Funny pics. Gee, Frankie, nothing like making yourself right at home…lol
I love the first pic, it looks like the piggy is saying “Um, hello? Your eating my dinner!”
