Cupcake

Cupcake is North Texas Rabbit Sanctuary’s newest edition.  Some lady found her and she was injured – a broken back leg.  I think she may be about 10 weeks old – Dr. Effie said she is 1.3 kg’s.  When I first saw her I thought she was older but it’s hard to really tell in the cage at the vet’s office even after holding her.  I’m not sure where this lady found her and she’s a pretty young rabbit.  Suprisingly she has bounced back very quickly from her amputation surgery.  I went this morning to take her some greens and she was already up and at it and was happy to munch away on her lettuce and dill.  Not sure how much the bill is yet either since Dr. Effie had not invoiced it yet. 

Dr. Effie said her leg was pretty bruised up when she started shaving it.  Her bone was sticking out of the skin too – I wish I could remember what bone Dr. Effie said was fractured but I can’t.  She’s resting comfortably at home with me for awhile until I take her to the sanctuary – she has 7 days of medication to take just in case of infection – I’ll probably keep her through that 7 days and in case I need to take her back to the vet’s.

oh my she is so precious! what a horrible thing that has happend to her! i wish I could adopt her I hope she finds a great home, props to you sartia for fostering her while shes recovering!!!

Poor thing.  She’s lucky to have you Sarita.  Did the doctor think that she had been attacked by a dog or was the injury from being dropped?

That is so sad. Who could just release a bunny and leave them to such a fate. She’s so cute. Your a bunny angel

I just thought I would mention with Easter fast approaching I am starting to spread the word about “Bunnies as gifts” by making flyers and by word of mouth as “bunny dumping” is a big concern of mine this time of year. I’m also gonna sport a “Make Mine Chocolate” pin which usually sparks a good conversation about the cause. I want to do my part to keep bunnies off the street.

Osprey, I’m not certain what the cause could be for Cupcake’s injury. I wanted to ask Dr. Effie when I took my Panda bun in but she was so busy.

Cupcake doesn’t even know she’s missing her back leg – she’s running around like crazy and is doing great.
