cuddling/petting

Hello!

I have had Nox for about a month now ( she is about 4 months) but I have some questions about petting and cuddling. She lets me pet her if I am crouching or standing near her but if I sit or kneel on the ground she suddenly doesn’t want pets anymore and hops away. Anyone know why? She isn’t scared because she goes into bunny loaf mode and grinds her teeth happily.

Also When I am on the floor she doesn’t want to sit next to me but when I am sitting at my desk she sits right beside my chair (She doesn’t do this unless I am sitting on my chair). Am I doing something wrong?

I just tried sitting on the floor and picking her up to snuggle on my chest and after a brief struggle due to the picking up she settled on my chest but she didn’t teeth grind/purr like she usually does. I was hoping to encourage her to be more cuddly. Should I try this again or was it the wrong thing to do? Is there anything I can do to encourage her to be more affectionate? Her breeder said she was cuddly and fine with being picked up when she was with them so I must be doing something wrong but I can’t figure out what it is.

Bunz only want attention when theyre the one asking for it! Kinda like cats in that sense. I’ve had mine for over a year now & they still sometimes hop away from me when i lay next to them or try to cuddle. She’ll be more cuddly in time (:

If Nox seemed okay while you were holding her, I would definitely encourage continuing to do so. I wish Luna liked being held

.Two precautions: you want her to get used to being picked up but I wouldn’t do it all the time because you don’t want her to associate you with that action until she gets more comfortable, and continue being careful when she struggles when you pick her up (hard struggling can lead to serious spinal injury). I would say it sounds like you’re not doing anything wrong, I would just give it more time. She is still getting used to you and trying to figure out if she can trust you. Just continue to do what you are doing to show her you’re not a threat and you won’t force her to do anything she doesn’t want to do, and she will warm up more and more.

Some bunnies are just very picky with the type of attention/cuddling they like. And some bunnies will become more tolerant with time. 1 month is very early in your relationship.
