As i said in the summary…my rabbit has the freedom to roam my room all day, but its turning into a mistake to let him. My room is bunny proof but hes still ruining stuff. Like he goes on my bed { ive tried everything to stop him } and when i came home the other day , i found a big rip in my bed. He also isnt using his litter box 24/7. I want to make a big cage out of the cube tiles { i have no idea wht their real name is !!} and that way I don’t have to worry about him getting into trouble/ hurt somehow. If i make him one of these cages he will still come out of his cage but only when im home. I have attempted to make one of these cages with no guidence before but it didnt work out so well. I have some ideas based on peoples pictures but still need help! If you have any recomendations please reply and pictures would be helpful!!

I made mine with zip-ties and the cubes. It has had many “versions” over the years, but it started as just a single level pen. You could always start with that and add levels later.

My levels now are also made out of the zip-ties and cubes, and I then put peg board and carpet tiles on top of them – but this wouldn’t have worked when he was younger, as he used to have a real love of munching on carpeting!

          Good luck!

He’s a big rabbit right? A checkered giant? An NIC cage might not be big enough.

Thx you two! And to answer your questions Sam and Lady’s human , yes he is a fairly good size. He is a Rex and checkerd giant mix so he isn’t a little rabbit…I have alot of room setup for it ….would a play pen also work well? The only thing would be…do you think he would mostlikley jump out of it? And sorry to ask soo many questions!

X-pen would work, but for a giant breed you’d need more than one x-pen. And the normal sized NIC condo wouldn’t work for a giant, how much does he weigh? The NIC cubes might not be stable enough for a rabbit that is too large.

Last time he was weighted he was about 15 pounds….i don’t think the cubes could hold him so i was planning on using wood for levels. I am thinking about going with a playpen or two. This way he has more room. But i would like to have levels and i can’t with a playpen. Still debating

woah 15lbs! My girl will be there soon enough hah.
Anyway, I would ditch the cage and get a couple xpens (spend the extra 15 bucks on the 36in). If you want something for height, put a chair or some boxes in the center of the pen, otherwise I wouldn’t worry about it, levels aren’t a must have with rabbits.

I don’t remember how old he is?

Wow! Yeah I wouldn’t go with a NIC cube, since he could lean against the levels etc and with his weight, I wouldn’t trust it was sturdy enough. You can add levels to an x-pen by adding a box fort, a wooden jumping level, etc. But, at his size jumping too much I have heard can cause joint problems, so I don’t know if he even really needs the levels.

Haha yea….i just setup a x-pen to experimante with it to see how he likes it. I’m not sure if it will be permanet yet. . Also he is 1 year and about 2 monthes old!
