i walked away from a christmas party today with loads of new nail polish and an awesome sled (im a snow bunny) im wearing the bright shiny teal right now and i was wondering, what crazy nail colors have you guys (ladies) worn?
I have every color under the sun because I used to do a lot of nails and I still occassionally do but the lime green, bright teal, and bright yellow got the most attention
Oh, I have tons of colors. I usually only paint my toenails though. I have a green that I love, and a deep purple color. And a shiny pretty sapphire blue color
I can’t paint my nails because I chew them still (bad habit, I know), but I know someone who bought chrome nail polish because she wanted to compete with her husbands love for his truck, that is probably the weirdest color I have seen.
I love unusual colors! I hardly have any pinks or reds- the majority of my polish is shades of purple (purple isn’t my favorite color in any way, but I think it looks really good on me as polish) with some greens and blues thrown in. I also really like taupe-y shades. I prefer mid-tone colors – the pale colors don’t look good since my skin is so pale – though I do like really dark ones sometimes. I mostly paint my toes and not my finger nails, but that’s only because I’m not very good at it and as soon as there’s a chip on my finger nails I get OCD and have to fix it or take it off. Haha
OPI’s Metro Chic is one of my all time favorites: http://polishaddict.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/opi-metro-chic.jpg
there is a nail polish brand at target called ‘sinful colors’ it goes on amazing and looks even better when dry. i got my first one yesterday at a party but i plan to get more this is amazing even my right hand looks good (im right handed, so my left hand always looks good but my right hand sometimes gets polish up to the knuckle.)
and i found that if i paint my nails, i dont want to chew them and mess up my work. i stopped chewing them this past summer
Hey guys can wear nail polish too… I don’t judge…
But I usually stick to gray or black. My Pit Bull likes purple nail polish.
i actually have some guy friends who wouldnt mind nail polish so im deffenatly not judging. i like the shiny colors i have a thing about matte nail polish, it looks weird on my skin tone, im very golden yellow. i even put on a few clear topcoat layers to make it that much shinier.
I have to ns, but i have a chrome orange its perty cool

Haha I wish that worked for me – if I have polish on my nails it just makes me want to chew the nail polish off, so I chew my nails even worse. I’m like a rabbit with something foreign on their feet. lol
I enjoy wearing teal. Teal to me is = Ovarian Cancer color. It honors my mom
Sparkles are my fave!
I have a shade the exact color of Hpnotiq liqueur. I also have highlighter pink and green by Sinful Colors, and a sparkly purple Glee-themed color called “Hell to the No” by OPI for Sephora. I am always on the lookout for a good crazy nail enamel! Being able to actually wear them is one of the great things about being an art major. I’m also hoping to score some Magnetic Effect polish in Iron Magic or Copper Seduction for Christmas.
around xmas i do aa white and red pattern that looks like a candy cane….havent done em yet this year…better get on it!
has anyone ever had the fake nails done where they just attach the end to your nail? i know a girl who gets that done and i can t grow my nails too far without the ends getting all layery and fragile so i wonder about getting that done. like how strong the fake nail part is.
Ugh I hate fake nails. They always look so… fake. And I have had friends that have had their nails permanently damaged by them. Nooo thanks. I’d rather have shorter natural nails than long fake ones that can cause problems.
Fake nails are too much maintenance for me. I work in a grocery store as a checker, so my nails get broken, and messed up all the time. I do not mind a manicure and pedicure at all, just no fake nails for me
My mom used to have fake nails and she kept them in really good shape.
sometimes they look overly fake but a few girls i know have them and you would barely know that they wernt real.
wow my bun just charged at and devouered a hunk of banana grunting the whole time, such anger!

I couldn’t handle fake nails. My fingers are thin, so even when my nails are fairly short they click on the keyboard (I spend all day working on a computer, so being able to type is key) and get in my way so I definitely couldn’t deal with them any longer (this was especially annoying when I played cello because I couldn’t get my fingers vertical on the fingerboard no matter how short I cut them).
I just remembered that I got a pedicure a couple weeks ago (we do it as a girl’s night activity) and picked a red for Christmas. The girl doing my nails asked if I wanted a design on the big toes and I decided to go for it since I’ve never had that done before. She did the cutest little snowflake design – she went all out too! Little flakes, bit flakes, some gold flecks. Not something I would usually do, but super cute for the holidays.
i think my nails are so weak because i am always petting fuzzy critters (my dog feels like a wild boar i swear) so the constant wear always take off the ends of my polish no matter how many clear top coats i put on and when i have longer nails even my bunny stretches out with kicky back feet and enjoys a good back scratching (really lightly of course but he doesnt care) they love it when i can get under the fur and run circles with my fingers around the roots of their fur. im a bunny massage expert.
i have been thinking about getting my nails done like that for a while, i have never done that before.
aerosmithgirl- the nails you are referring to are commonly called “tips”. Some people can do them natural looking, some not. A lot of it depends on the product you’re using. I had to stop having artificial nails when I was doing a lot of hair because it was harder to grab the hair but when it’s nail season, I sometimes put them on. It’s a lot harder on yourself trust me
They can cause damage if you long-term use them. Nothing serious. But if you ever go to a shop and they use a nail drill on your actual nail. Stop them. Ask them to use file instead or leave because that’s when the most damage occurs.
If you’d like a cheaper solution, try a nail strengthener. My personal brand favorite is OPI’s Nail Envy. I use the original one. That will help grow your nails and make them healthier. Especially use it after you get fake nails taken off which most people don’t do.
Okay, one more thing and I’ll stop rambling (unless anyone has questions then I’d love to answer them) but another thing that anyone can do that will help your nail and the skin around your nail is nail oil and they sell them at sallys cheap. It can be applied daily and it’s another one of my best friends.
Oh and elrohwen that sounds really cute. If it’s still on your toes, I’d love a picture
that snowflake design sounds awesome! id also love to see a pic!
Frankieflash, after my fake nails come off they always look peeled or something. im not sure how to describe it…but thats why i dont get em anymore…and it would be a little hard to change a diaper with longer nails….lol
I have put acrylic nails (with the powder liquid combo thing) on by my self but they are a lil crooked….not too bad but if you know to look for it…you can tell lol but i dont care, if it saves a lil money!
yeah that’s why I usually do my own nails. I have trust issues ever since I went to someone who I thought was reliable for a pedicure almost 2 years ago and I’m still fighting onychomycosis (which is a type of nail fungus). It become harder to find good nail tech/hair stylists once you know what they’re doing and know if they’re doing something wrong.
SirThumpsy, I swear by nail strengthener and nail oil. They are something I do after acrylic nails every time AND when I’m going natural. OH and do you soak your nails off or lift/clip the acrylic off? because that will cause the peeling. basically you’re peeling some layers of your nail plate off when you pull off acrylic. I’m bad with that myself because soaking takes patience.
….yeah i think i lifted them off…. I have always thought it felt wierd but it was kinda fun….soaking also required good polish remover which i dont think i had….lol do now though!
Ok, here’s a picture! I only did the right toe because it’s too cold in our house to take off more than one sock at a time. lol I’m impressed that the camera even picked up on the little flecks of gold. I’m also impressed the polish looks so good since it’s been 2 or 3 weeks now.
soo adorable!
that is super cute! seeing stuff like that makes me feel so clumsy at painting nails.
Yeah, seriously! I thought she was going to do one snowflake on there, but she got really creative with it and did a great job. I was impressed that she wasn’t even resting her hand on anything to steady it while she worked.
wonder how many times she had to mess up that kind of stuff before she could just whip up perfect snowflakes on a strangers big toe…
she wasnt resting her hand on anything? Holy cow! That is freaking impressive!
Very pretty elrohwen. Now I’m jealous my toe is all ugly with the fungus AND it’s infected right now too
haha at least your second toe doesnt look like a finger. mine sticks out past my big toe and it could serve as a pinky finger if mine ever gets cut off XD
2-3 weeks that polish has been on????
I cant get mine to stay on for 4 days!
The only color I have and really like right now is matte grey. Idk, I just like the color and how it goes with everything!
My polish on my toes seems to last forever lol
Tipsy, do you use base and top coat? that’s what most salons do to help polish stay on longer. it also prevent staining. Different brands are better than others of course but any brand is better than none normally! They make matte topcoats too!
