Sorry this is so long, just need some advice.
Over the last few days we have noticed pink plastic trays appearing in our front yard… we couldnt work out where they were coming from. Last night I was out getting tea and when I cam home, there was a lady in our front yard putting out pink trays! I couldnt believe it! She called out to me and asked if I had seen a ginger cat around. I told her that i had seen it streak through the yard earlier, but that was the only time I had seen it for weeks!
A block up the road from our house is a doctors surgery, with a few cats that live outside. They are about a year old, someone had dumped a mother and her kittens there, and the ladies at the doctors feed them, but they are not really tame. Anyway, the lady that was in our yard told me that she was trying to catch all the cats so that her friend could desex them and find them loving homes. I thought that was lovely and told her that the ginger cat doesnt come to our place very often but if I saw it I would make friends with it so she could catch it. She reckons every night it comes over and sleeps in our entertainment area. I told her it couldnt do that because there is no way that it could get in there, but she was insistent, and said she had watched it. Which is strange because we thought the dog would have told us if this was the case . Because he sleeps in there, and he barks at all cats. And besides, its fully enclosed!!! But she said she stalks it every night and it comes into our house…
Anyways, After she left I went inside and Carl had been watching through the window. He said I shouldn’t be talking to the crazy lady. I was like, what do you mean?!?!?!? She was nice!!!!!
He told me that early last week, our neighbour from a few doors down had come over really really upset. She lives next to the doctors clinic, and while she was at work these people had come into her yard and trapped her PET CAT! When she got home she came over to see if we had seen it but we hadnt. She saw these ladies hanging around the cats and asked if they had seen it and they described the cat and said yes, they had trapped it and put it down because it was a mean cat. but it wasnt. it was her PET!
Now I dont know what to do about these people who keep putting cat food over our front yard trying to catch it. The cats at the surgery arent doing any harm, they are fed well, and keep to themselves. But I dont want this lady catching them and killing them! Especially in our front yard! What should I do??? She says she is desexing and rehoming them, but I dont understand why, since she told me that they are all sick and wont live very long. (they look pretty healthy to me…)
The lady whos cat got caught said that they bait them in the pink trays so they are dopey, then they catch them. The crazy catcher lady said its just whiskas, but she came back while we were asleep last night and put out trays of water in our yard which is really weird since it was raining earlier and there are lots of puddles. I am so confused, I dont know which lady to believe!!!!!
What should I do???
I would ring the RSPCA or Animal Welfare League and ask their advice. Whatever her intentions, she is putting other animals at risk if she is actually putting out baited food. She also is trespassing. It’s all well and good to try capture feral cats to rehome them but there’s probably a proper way to go about it. Maybe also chat with the ladies at the Dr’s surgery for some more info?
definitely contact your police department’s animal team. sounds ridiculously suspicious.
Wow, tough one. I’d be terrified that she would poison one of my pets. There are too many crazies out there.
I have a slightly paranoid neighbour whom (I think) imagines neighbourhood conspiracies.
Does the neighbour seem reliable?
I’d definitely not let your pets out of your sight until you know more.
I’d also be carefully disposing of any trays etc.
You might also want to check for baited meat tid bits.
I’d have myself so worked up that I’d be trying to teach the dog to pee in the bathtub. LOL
And I just said that my neighbour was paranoid. LOL
Furface, lol. I can just imagine you trying to get your dog to pee in the bathtub
I agree it sounds very suspicious. I would definitely keep an eye out for her and your pets! If she comes into your yard again, you have every right to call the police department – little old lady or not, she’s trespassing!
Usually, I like to think people have good intentions but you do have to be careful. This lady may actually have a vendetta against stray cats for whatever reason. I’ve had a dog die on me that was baited. Not nice. If the animal authorities get involved and speak with her, they can teach her or help with the problem if her intentions actually are well meaning.
Having lost good dogs to bad neighbors before, I agree, report her to the police. Get your neighbor who lost her cat to file a report also. This fruitcake is going to put spiked food out in someone’s yard who has a small child next and the kid will wind up in the hospital. NO one, is THIS ‘nice’ to animals these days…she needs help.
Yeah, baited food is wrong. A kid or a beloved pet could eat it, and then what would happen? That isn’t the way to trap animals to get them “fixed and sent off for adoption”. Call the cops.
I agree, call the police. Something strange is going on there. I just cannot understand how people can harm animals!! Keep us posted, ok?
you guys have a good point, and it does sound pretty strange, doesnt it… Next time she comes around I am going to call the police…. Carl made a really good point tonight too when we were talking about it. The lady told me that she had followed the cat every night to our house, and it sleeps in our entertainment area… So it could be our cat, right?! if it sleeps at our place every night, wouldnt she just think that its our cat?! Why would she be trying to catch and poison our cat in our own front yard??? Its very fishy. She normally sneaks around while we are asleep. Im going to keep a good eye out for her tonight.
Good luck!
Wow that is scary
If she is setting up baited trays in your front yard that’s trespassing, cats or no cats. — can you collect the bait after she leaves for evidence? Plus, she said she has been watching your entertainment area? From where exactly?
This is very odd.
That is beyond creepy.
Do you have a neighborhood watch or patrol? Your neighbors should not be skulking around your house, leaving things in your yard, and watching your property…
First-holy smokes
I would
1) get your neighbor who’s cat was caught and pts-to give you a statement in writting-that way you are not slandering anyone. Have her phone the police and give a statement as well.
2) get the ‘crazy ladies’ name-so you have it to give out, and perhaps a picture/description. Remember she talked to you, be nice and get it.
3)Distribute flyers around your whole neighborhood telling them what happened (Re-you have the statement-you are not lying), and give the ladies name/picture/description. Tell your neighbor’s NOT to let their cats outside.
4) phone the police and spca-and give them all the info
That lady who’s cat was trapped and put down can take legal recoruse as well. That’s theft.
I totally agree with Kokaneeandkahlua
Good advice KK! Not only is it trapping and putting down someone’s pet cat theft, but I would think that it also falls under the category of animal abuse, especially if she killed a perfectly healthy animal and/or if her form of “putting down” was not humane (though I don’t know that that can be determined…). And regardless of whether the pet cat was “mean” (I’m guessing it was scared and confused and, if it did lash out at anyone, only trying to protect itself), I’m pretty sure that woman doesn’t have the legal authority to just up and decide to put someone’s cat down.
So very creepy!
Think abut attempting to get some video or photos of the old woman (I cant bring myself o say lady) putting out food or following your cat.
Hey, people don’t have to be “crazy” to be cruel to animals. I use to know a woman who makes a big point about how smart she is, how she goes to bible study, is a PTA member, is a card carrying republican (in other words what a “good” person she is) and puts food with ground glass in it out for stray animals.
aiyee!! I call that crazy…..
Crazy, horrible, disturbed, reprehensible, cruel, and unworthy of the beauty of our world’s animals
LizzieKnittyBun – Thats TERRIBLE! I cant believe people would do things like that to animals! OMG thats really appauling! KK – great advice, Carl and I are going to stay up tonight and wait for her, and conveniently check the mail when she comes past our house. The fact that she is spying on our entertainment area is a bit scary, and I have been throwing all te bait out, but will give some to the cops for evidence. I am going to make fliers tonight too, to give to the neighbours to help them protect their cats. Thank you so much for the advice! I will let you know what happens when I see the lady!
The police may want to pick it up off the lawn themselves – fingerprints & proper collection of evidence etc. – particularly if they have had other incidences in other areas of town.
Good luck! I think I speak for all of us animal lovers when I say…. this is pretty sticky!
Just make sure that, above all, you stay safe yourself. Keep Carl with you when you’re around her, just to make sure. Someone who kills animals that easily is not to be trusted.
Definitely keep us posted on what happens.
I can’t imagine the police taking this seriously unfortunately…well it wouldn’t be a priority to them. Do talk to Police via that 4444 number. (Kafrn lives in same State as me so I’m giving local references). Also to Animal Welfare of RSPCA for advice as to who deals with these things.
The neighbour whose cat was trapped had said “these people”. Does she know if this particular person was involved or if there was more than one person?
I agree with Jersey-Edmonton is realitively safe city and the cops don’t even show up for a b&e or car break in. I doubt they would finger print the cat traps But DO call them and keep us posted!
Edmonton … Im not sure where that is?!
We stayed up late but there was no sign of anyone. But then there was another empty pink tray in our yard this morning. We were going to wait to call the cops until we saw her… but i think it may be a good idea to go ahead and just do it. thanks heaps for that number too jersey. I will give them a ring tonight. Man I wish we could actually SEE her come again.
The lady whos cat got taken… I dont think she knew exactly who did it, but I will ask her as soon as I see her. :/

Hi everyone! I have an update!
About a week ago I called the police and told them what was happening, and they said that they couldnt do anything without her registration number for her car. So we waited up for her for so many nights, but she seemed to be coming in the middle of the night and we kept missing her. Then she didnt come for awhile.
then 2 nights ago I got home late from work, and Carl was all excited because as I got home, the cat lady had JUST left. She had lured the cat into the corner of our yard with cat food, and was edging closer to it, trying to pat it. Carl was watching her through a crack in the fence. She had her car boot open with a cage in there, and she got really really close to the cat and was about to grab it…. So Carl banged on the fence, and the cat was stratled and ran off. The lady was also startled and ran to her car and started to follow the cat. But carl got her registration.
I got home 5 minutes later and we called the police. We gave them the model of the car etc and they sent someone over. In the corner of our yard she had left a pile of cat food with white powder in it. So the police scooped some up and took our statement. The lady police officer was really concerned about the whole thing. She took the rego number and they said they were going to go have a chat with the lady and tell her to stop doing it. So that made me happy.
Then last night I was home by myself, Carl had gone out for the night. I was sitting up in bed browsing Binky Bunny on my DSi, and all of a sudden I heard “puss puss puss puss”. I crept over to the window, and sure enough, the crazy bat had come back. She was patting the poor ginger cat, and feeding it, but this time she was doing it about 20cm from our fence on the sidewalk. I raced out the side of our house as quietly as I could, and Banged on the roller door as hard as I could. (The rabbits looked at me like I was mad)… Then I raced back to the window, and she was running down the street to her car with something under her arm, but I couldnt see what it was. I was so upset. I hope it wasnt the cat.
I called the police straight back again and told them. The operator was the same lady that I had spoken to the day before, and she was really concerned. She said she would have someone back there straight away.
I went back to the front window and watched the street. The Crazy cat lady drove past a few times really really slowly. This made me wonder if the cat had actually escaped…
Then she left.
The police came, and it was the same guy from the night before. Unfortunately he didnt have the lady cop with him (she was so helpful the night before)
He said they had been to the Crazy ladys house the day before and had a chat to her. She told them that she worked for a wildlife protection agency, and that she had put food out, but never poisoned it. She admitted to everything else. The police told her to stay away from our house, and that she couldnt bait anywhere near houses. He told her she had to do it in a park because she couldnt do it in peoples houses
(I was really cross about this)
The policeman couldnt believe that she had come back again!!! So he said he was going to go and have another word to her. And thats where we are up to now.
I hope she doesnt come back again. Apparently she preached to the policeman about saving wildlife and protecting birds, so she is probably killing the cats that she catches, although she told the policeman that she pays for them to be desexed and finds them homes.
I just dont know what to do.
This is the craziest crazy-cat-lady story I’ve heard, Kafrn. What a thing to have going on at nights in your yard! So, is the police saying that this lady may continue her quest in parks?
I really wonder what she does with the cats.
She works for a wildlife protection agency? Hope they got the name and check it out, see if shes telling the truth about that.
well if they got a sample of the food she left out with white stuff on it, cant they test it to see if she really did poison it?
i would be REALLY creeped out on top of worried about the cat(s). i hope everything turns out okay!
What if the powder is posion? & so what if it’s a “only” drug to slow the cats down. What about children in those yards. & the cops told her to go to public parks instead?
I think that I would start making a huge fuss about this, loudly using concern for small children as a top point;
Call all the Television & Radio News departments,
Call into talk radio shows,
Call your local politicians,
Call all the wildlife protection agencies & explain to them that this crack pot is giving them a bad name,
Put notices up in every bulletin board that you can find warning people to watch their children & pets very closely – vet offices, pet stores, groceries, laundry mats, day care centers, schools
Start a petition to get the city or cops to do something.
I have already made the comment about small children to the cops, as I have a 5 year old who now cant play in the front yard anymore. I am also terrified because what if she gets angry and throws some over the fence to our dog too?! I will make a fuss because the policeman that told her to do it in parks… well, I just cant believe he said that to her! Its basically giving her permission to put poison meat in parks!!!!
Im going to email our local news team and tell them what is going on, and also call the police lady back again and find out the name of the wilderness protection group and find out a bit more about them…..
Lol my boss reckons Carl (my partner) should dress up in a huge cat costume and next time we hear her calling the cats he should lunge out of the bushes towards her growling “Im coming sweetheart!”
I’ll keep you posted!
can you ask the news team to catch Carl in the cat suit on camera?
Speaking of cameras. Do you have one? Video or pictures may do a great job of getting the news onboard.
I can take pics of the food if it she comes back again, thats a good idea! But I cant video her doing it or anything because in Australia you cant video anyone without their consent. So it would breach the privacy law and she could sue us.
You could always… video your lawn… *shifty eyes*

This whole thing really gives me the chills! Though could you in theory tape your lawn is Monkeybun suggested? I believe that if she is tresspassing you don’t really need someone’s consent… Though I don’t know what the laws are and how they apply to different things. It’s just still, I couldn’t see how it would be illegal to get someone trespassing since what they are doing is illegal. Shouldn’t you be able to sue them for trespassing?
Yes, what about security cameras, surely you must be able to video your own property – without catching any public property if they are that strict.
Thats a really good idea. We could certainly use a security camera for evidence, but I dont think we could pass it into the Current Affairs TV show without her permission. I think Carl has a security camera at home somewhere that he bought in a spree on Ebay… I’ll have a hunt when I get home…
Omygosh Kafrn…. CREEPY! I can’t even imagine being in my home and knowing that some lunatic is going around my yard putting out drugged food and killing animals!
Make a fuss!! I wish we could all come make a fuss with you!
I ditto the Call all the Television News shows idea.
Here in the states Local News loves stories like this. They go crazy for the “why isn’t any one doing anything about this” and “please won’t someone think of the children” angle. Earlier this year there was a “serial pet killer” in Florida (I think) it made the national news.
I also wish we could all come make a fuss with you!
GAH!!! THank you for the update-can’t believe I didn’t see it until now.
I would also be terrified of her poisioning my dog as well. I would say until this calms down, take you dog out on a leash in the yard together-so you can ensure he doesn’t get into anything. It’s a pain-but worth it.
I would honestly be waiting in my yard with my hose!!! And maybe get Dave to mod it so it had HOT water -hot hot hot for the bad cat lady. I’m FUMING GAH!!
Ok-more action. Do you know her name? If not you still have her car info-I’d call the local wildlife agencies and let them know her description -name if you have it-and her car description/info. Let them know that either one of their employees/volunteers has gone awry and is trying to poison cats-or that someone is sullying their name by doing this activity and saying it’s for their organization.
Also-defintiely get the news agency involved. We have a ‘trouble shooter’ here and I’m sure they have similar type departments in most news stations. Given Australia’s concern over protection of native species-the fact that shes poisioning food that could certainly be eaten by indegineous species should be enough to get them out to your house-besides the obvious cruetly aspect. You don’t need to video for them and break laws-they should be able to set up a ‘sting’ and catch her and video her.
Oohhhhh Keep us posted-this is so upsetting.
Do you have like a local community college or anything of the sort nearby? Or even a ‘frisky’ high school chemistry teacher? You could take some of the food there and ask them if they can do an analysis for poison or sedatives…
GOOD idea Hooty!!
wow what a nut job this woman is!!! i will def be checking this thread for updates!
i recommend – if you’re not already doing this – keeping a journal of all the dates and times and activities you see her doing, or when you find evidence of her being there. i think thats just as good as a video or pic. great idea to contact wildlife agencies about her. i can’t imagine any agency wanting to affiliate with some one who ignores tresspass laws and police warnings and i would think they have a vested interest in helping stop this woman some how. especially if their agency gets mentioned in news about the whole situation.
good luck & stay safe!!!
The cops rang me again this yesterday afternoon and let me know that they visited her again and asked her to stop catching the cats in our neighbourhood. Carl and I set up chairs in our front window last night and sat there waiting for her, but she didnt show up.
We worked out the days and times (from this thread) that the incidents happened, and have written them all down in our diary. I have no doubt that she will be back again, and I am considering asking for her name. After all, she doesnt think she is doing anything wrong, so I dont see why she wouldnt give me her name. I still have her rego number. Then if this continues, we can take it to teh TV groups that handle neighbourhood affairs.
Our dog Toby is locked in our pool area for the next few days so that he is away from the fence. just incase something gets thrown over. But he loves it in the pool area cause he gets to swim, and play with the ball in the pool, so he is not complaining.
I think you should all come over here and huddle in my lounge, and next time she comes we can chase her down the street with big signs saying “SAVE OUR CATS!” and yelling at her and throwng little pink trays around.
I think that would fix the problem. When can you guys come over?
lolz…I know I’m going to sound like one of those mad right wing crazies when I say, if someone comes into MY yard uninvited, they get introduced to my gentlemen friends, Mr. Smith & Mr. Wesson. LOCK & LOAD!
I always have to watch what my dogs stick their noses in, I’ve had two dogs poisoned by nasty neighbors in my own yard in the span of five years. There is ALWAYS something unrecognizable on the side of the road that could be anything. People like this are just sick. In fact I have to wonder if this lady is senile or has some other mental disorder.
But of course we don’t want to spread that around. If she gets popped we don’t want her copping an insanity plea.
I like the idea of warning the shelters and the rehabs too. I kind of doubt she’s affiliated, she’s just some freakshow who hates pets.
you’re in australia yes?
hmm i’m in texas, so i’ll be there in like a half hour!!
What I don’t understand is why the cops didn’t test the food, and why they didn’t check out her story? All they have to do is call the supposed wildlife agency she works for or the places she supposedly helped and the police would find out she’s nutty. I mean all they are doing is giving her the chance to be MORE sneaky. She either will figure out a way to do it in your neighborhood when you aren’t watching since now she knows people are watching her, OR she’ll just go to another neighborhood and kill other people’s cats. I don’t get what the police are doing at all. This is crazy.
I would talk to the neighbors and start a neighborhood watch for the “Crazy Cat Lady” and maybe a TV station will be interested. They certainly would also know about “filming loopholes” like if she is in a public area, or if you have security cams – ya know, what can actually be filmed and shown.
lol, katie, Texis is at least a 45 minute drive! I’ll be home at 4. I’ll put the kettle on
Now Im starting to sound a little mad
I have been working closely with the head inspector of the RSPCA for the last week as part of my work, but have not mentioned this problem to her… I am more worried that if the RSPCA gets involved, they will just come and take the cat away…. and really, this doesnt fix the problem. The cat is perfectly happy where it is, and isn;t doing anyone any harm. But on the other hand, do you think that the RSPCA (who deals with the prevention of cruelty to animals) would hunt this lady down and investigate her?
Should I mention it to them? I will be seeing her again this afternoon.
Binky Bunny, you are so right, the police are letting her become MORE sneaky!!! The police did take some food, but apparently dont have the equipment to test it… (which has to be lazy, they are the POLICE for goshs sake!) It makes me wonder why they took a sample in the first place! And they dont seem to be following up on her story either. They havent followed up to see if her wildlife party exists, and it still doesnt excuse the the fact that she is putting poison in a public area!!!
We are going to watch out for the food and the trays, and if it happens again, (after her second warning) I am going door knocking to everyone on our block to see if I can find a person that owns the ginger cat. And also telling everyone to watch their cats because of what is happening. Then at least if she is seen on our block at all, everyone will know her movements and we can follow what she is doing…
I don’t know how it works there, but I know around here that depending on the city, normally there is at least one animal care and control, humane society OR SPCA that works WITH the police.
Here, if they find a stray cat they are less likely to do as much as if it were a stray dog, but they would definitely attempt to rescue it, spay/neuter it and then try and find it a good home, and when it comes to dealing with people who may be harming animals, they work in conjunction with the police. I think really, you can only just ask. Many times their website might be helpful as well. You could see if they have any “reporting animal abuse” info on their site and see what their procedures are.
Hooty22
Or even a ‘frisky’ high school chemistry teacher?
lol. Don’t know what frisky means in your part of the world but that gave me a laugh! By the way – HI HOOTY!!
MimzMum
lolz…I know I’m going to sound like one of those mad right wing crazies when I say, if someone comes into MY yard uninvited, they get introduced to my gentlemen friends, Mr. Smith & Mr. Wesson. LOCK & LOAD!
LOLOL! You people are scaring me!
Kafrn, do know what exactly & who your dealing with before taking her on. There’s all kinds of “crazy” out there. I’d be peeved the Police let on where the complaint came from in case she was the vindictive type. Do you have Neighbourhood Watch meetings in your area?
Posted By Kafrn on 09/24/2009 07:01 PM

What a bunch of bogus poo! Of course they can send it out to be tested. What do they do if a person is suspected of tainting another person’s food. So they are going to say…”We don’t have the equipment to test it?” So irritating!
You said you have a small child right, that you are now afraid to let out in your own yard?
TV stations, as many hysterical tears as you can possibly muster, flip out – not violently of course but play that sympathy card – it’s not just the animals but my child, cry shake tremble & cry some more.
You should not have to live in fear of letting your children or pets into their own yard.
LOL “frisky” chemistry Teacher!!!!!
Thats hot! I love it!
Furface, binky, jersey, I completely agree. But we do not have a neighbourhood watch in our area. I think it is time to get the rest of the block on board though……… I really need more info first though.
The police saw the white powder in the food, and were really concerned… then they came back to me and said “Oh, the lady said that yes she put the food there, but she said there is no poison in it or anything like that! So dont worry too much”
I’m like, “WHAT DO YOU THINK THE WHITE POWDER IN THE FOOD IS THEN?! DO YOU THINK SHE IS ADDING ICING SUGAR JUST FOR THE SAKE OF IT?!” Well, I didnt say that yet…. but Im going to……
Its just so obvious , what she is doing! I cant believe the police arent going to handle it!!!
“When can you guys come over?” – WAHOO! Road Trip!!!!
These are some great ideas. We got some creative members here!
ooh furface, you’re sneaky! but really, she’s right. everyone is. this is messed up and totally WRONG.
Excuse me, but WHAT happens when a ‘white powder’ arrives in the mail somewhere? (especially since 9-11)…It gets TESTED.
The officials are not taking this seriously enough. I agree with the door to door and t.v. policies. That will light a fire under someone.
And just in case everyone thinks I am Annie Oakley now, please be rest assured, I do not advocate anything violent. My husband has just stressed to me how to be careful if I am here alone. My father taught me to shoot from a young age, but he also taught me to be responsible. So my apologies to anyone here who may be worried a bout venturing into MimzMum’s neck of the woods.
*tiptoes away from MM* Kidding
Seriously tho, the police really should look into the powder. Its silly for them not, and seriously irresponsible. Especially since young children could have gotten into it.

Don’t worry Annie….er….I mean Mimz…. I grew up in Alaska,, and it’s sort of a different world there, especially if you are more isolated. I am more of left-winger, but I grew up knowing how to shoot guns too – it’s definitely an Alaskan thing. My father just wanted to make sure we knew how to protect ourselves from bears and wolves when we were camping. He was not an hunter and always said animals were much more beautiful when they were alive, but we also camped every summer and bears and wolves could be threat so that’s why the “rifle” was used for safety. Plus, Alaska is huge and unpopulated in relation to its size, so isolation….is ISOLATION. I will make sure to carry a megaphone and announce my entry onto your propery…. I get it.
For some reason, I thought Aussie’s were similar to Alaskans – all rough and tumble, and you don’t dare mess with ’em!. Looks like I have watched too much Russell Crowe and Crocodile Dundee movies.
lollol… you guys are great! i think the drive from canada is a little longer… maybe take a couple of hours from way up here in the great white north
re: the testing of the food… i’d be willing to bet that they just collected it to have on hand for testing at a later date when they determine its more important. they’re obviously not taking this very seriously right now. god knows why.
i had an incident a few years ago when i got a threatening letter. they sent over a cop who interviewed me for a while, and took down notes. he said that they wouldn’t take any action unless there were other incidents (gulp) but that they would keep a file on this to have if needed. he took the letter and the envelope in an evidence baggie too but i knew they weren’t going to do anything with it. fortunately nothing else ever happened.
I’m just reading this whole thread now. I don’t know how I missed it before. What a terribly creepy situation. I was really hoping for more of a closure (positive of course) when I reached the end.
oh my no how psycho

I coudn’t stop laughing at this last interaction!. This really isn’t a funny situation, but a little comic relief might be in order. I feel like we just played that game where one person whispers a sentence in another person’s ear, and that person then whispers that same sentence in the next person’s ear, and then by 20th person, the sentence has totally changed. With that being said….As far as I know, that crazy cat lady is NOT eating the cats…..right?!!
What? The crazy cat lady eats crocodile?
You should write a short story about your experience with the cat lady!
wait… russell crowe is a crazy cat lady that eats crocodiles? Dude!
Who? The crazy pink tray lady threw a phone at Russel Coit?!
We havent seen the cat lady for a few days. I was updated by the police the other day that they had a very firm word with her and she wont be returning. We have been watching out for her every night now though. Our dog sleeps very close to where she was baiting the cat now and he alerts us to any noise outside the fence (from where he is now). rest assured, she cant throw anything over the fence in that part of the yard so all is safe.
I dont expect this will be the last we hear from her though…. Judging by her nature… She will be back. And when she is, Today Tonight (local TV show) will be close on her tail.
Good for you, Kafrn! Way to assert yourself for neighborhood animals everywhere!
: )
Keep us posted kafrn -your doing a great job!!
BBM-you and I and the other Canadian members can go together to Australia to visit in my car-Did you hear she has a pool!?! Not only that but it’s almost winter here-and they are getting summer!! Let’s go to Aussie land to defend the kitties!!!

Driving to Australia might!!!!
ROTFL !!!
Yes-ok *maybe* driving to australia LOL
lol… are you guys trying to get me fired??? how can i read this thread without laughing out loud and being obvious about not working? hahaha. i’m all for comic relief!
i’m in k&k! this will also not raise eyebrows at my office… they DEF think i’m a nutbar already knowing that i visit the humane society buns at lunch 2 or 3 times a week. that would be one AWESOME road trip! there should be a bridge across one of the oceans by now right?
kaf i hope she has been dissuaded! and i’m glad you have a back up plan… always good to stay on your toes when you’re dealing with lunatics.
Where are you guys?! I made cucumber sandwiches and waited up all night! Lol you must at least be passing Darwin by now?!?!?!?!
I have good news… We had a very fat little ginger cat sitting in our yard last night….. She didnt get him!!!!!!!
He is fat and happy and he just sat out the front of our house and cleaned himself, and didnt have to worry about crazy lady coming to grab him
Im glad that he is ok. I was beginning to think that she got him!
YAY! The crazy crocodile named Russell Cat didn’t get the kitty
Sorry, I couldn’t resist any longer…
I am truly ashamed that I am reading this post – all 4 pages – for the first time now.
I deserve to be bitten by Russell Crow while eating Baked Alaskan Crocodile on the Barbie out of little pink dishes.
*hangs head while laughing as last page* Please let me come to Australia with you Kitty Rescuers. I will lend you my inflatable lobster for the watery roads.
That said, she does sound very, very “lights are on but there’s nobody home” upstairs. I do worry about the risks to a 5 year old.
And you said in the very beginning that she admitted to stalking you for the kitty in your yard. That’s a self-described stalker. Bingo. Crime stated.
Any determination if the white stuff is poison yet? Other than the frisky chemistry teacher that is.
LOL!
And you said in the very beginning that she admitted to stalking you for the kitty in your yard. That’s a self-described stalker. Bingo. Crime stated.

I know! She admitted that she was stalking us! My question was: If the cat comes to our house every night and comes into our garage and sleeps in there, how does she know that it isnt our cat?! If I followed a cat and it went to the same house every day, I would assume it was their cat! So I dont get why she is trying to catch it!!!
We dont know what the white stuff is yet. I dont even know if the police tested it. I will follow up on it next week with them. If I havent heard anything I will give them a call.
right thats was I thought too. Her following a cat to a house right how does she know it isn’t their cat. I would think it is that persons cat and leave it alone. I would have no business trying to catch it. It is apparantly someones pet.
my Mom tho she hates cats. They walk on her car leaving cute little paw prints drives my Mom nuts. Personally I don’t mind kitty paw prints on cars myself. Sure beats bird poop.
my Mom has threatened to poison them when I lived at home I was 16 and 17 and even told me on the phone a few years ago she was going to leave some freon out for them. I told my Mom thats illegal to poison peoples pets. I was so mad. Maybe she was just ranting.
Hmm she wants me to move back to Louisiana. I don’t like it there too much prejudice and they rudely stare at you too. No manners. I dont’ want to go back there. Now that I remembered about the cats I am having 2nd thoughts. My buns being poisoned. She said I could put them outside I refuse. No way they go outside.
Sorry I am on a rant. That lady cannot trespass on your property to get a cat who might be yours (I know it isn’t but looks to me like it would be your pet so I wouldn’t mess with it except to pet it)
Something is seriuosly wrong there. Yes it did sound like she admitted to stalking around your house and on your yard/property. I hope she stops or goes in a nursing home or mental home.
That would be good to catch her on your property on video. Maybe then the police would get with it even more so. Or if start finding dead pets. I hope not tho for the sake of the cats
I would refuse any offers of eating at her house dont’ want no cat kaboobs or poison in your food.
Kafrn,
last night I just caught the preview of the evening news. I’m in Canada, by the way. They were showing what they were going to report on… and I hear them say: “… and find out how a nosy neighbor ended up on national television” – I looked up to see the picture and caught a glimpse of some very crazy looking lady on video tape doing something in someone’s yard… it went to commercials, but I thought of you! Of course, you’re down under but I thought for a moment, “could it be THAT lady???”
Dang, she got from Oz land to Canada rather quickly didn’t she. Must have used that super secret bridge…
LOL. — everybody bring your cats inside!
–wait a minute: is this cat lady game for real? the one pictured above?
I don’t believe this. I just did a google search for crazy cat lady, and this was a search option- it’s an ACTION FIGURE!
I’ve seen that action figure in stores before. Too funny. My bf threatened to buy it for me. I only have 4, that’s not too bad, it was 5 but I lost one I didn’t replace.
At one point in time, I had 9 cats. Yes, 9. It started as 1. Then my mom rescued a little kitty in the middle of an Edmonton winter. And little kitty had 7 more. Not our first kitty’s fault All 7kittens grew up to be healthy kitties, and my mom kept one of them, who lived a good long 15 years as a fat happy cat, king of her house. My mom is the crazy cat lady, im the bunny girl

kitty in the middle of an Edmonton winter.
meaning temperatures so cold it burns when you breathe.
Yeah, that sounds about right. SOooo glad I moved to Vancouver fromt here lol. Then down here in Oregon… Snow and me don’t get along.
OMG I love that figurine! I want one!
We had 5 cats at our height of rescue. One of them we raised from when it was only a week old. Her name was Friday, someone had dumped her in a park. She was my baby. We fed her with a pepet, and she went to school with my mum for about 10 weeks and lived in a basket under her desk so that we could feed her ! (mum is a principal). She lived for 15 years.
Another one (Sheba) when I was in highschool some boys there got a kitten and gaffa taped it, and were swinging it aorund the oval by its tail. I raced in and fought a bit with them, managed to grab the cat, and took her straight to the vet, who said she had a break in her tail, but would be ok. She is the sweetest little thing. She lives with my mum and dad still because I moved out with Carl, and he is allergic to cats so we cant have one. I was devastated when I learned that we couldnt have a cat because of his allergies. So I begged and begged for a bunny. I told him all about Stu who needed rescuing. Carl said no, no NO BUNNIES! He said one dog is enough. Then one night, when he had his uncle over and they were having a few drinks, I chose the right time, and mentioned Stu again. His uncle started talking about how he had a bunny once, before the war…that worked. Carl said yes straight away, I got in the car then and there to go pick Stu up before anyone could change their mind. Carl met Stu about an hour after that, and it was love at first sight. They are best mates now and now here I am
When did they make a figurine of me, and why is my hair white?
I’m allergic to cats, and I still have them. Technically I’m allergic to bunnies too. And the dog. And dust. And plants. Actually all plants, and all animals. Basically if you can breathe it I’m allergic to it. I take meds twice a day for it and snuggle with my kitties all the time.

HAHAHAHA omg! I’ve been following this thread but never posted
I really hope they test that white thing and catch the crazy! That woman should be locked up
I have one of those metal magnetized puzzle things that is the ‘crazy cat lady’. Got it at B&N.
I thought I had the limit at three…NINE cats? 0_o Lots of litter boxes to empty…hmmmm.
Annette you and I are cut from the same cloth. I am allergic to cat and dog hair and saliva and yet I have both. I just use lots of Benadryl.
Sadly for some folks, that just isn’t enough and they have to go without the pets they are sensitive to.
OMG Rabbitpam!! you owe me a laptop -therei s coffee on my screen now!! THAT figurine looks EXACTLY like my neighbor (The cougar!!) who has four or five cats… PFFFTTT!!
I just wish there was a crazy cat lady for once with a sense for personal hyginene and fashion…
^^ Hahahaha Petzy
LOL K&K – here you go.
And in answer to your question, it’s a laptop skin. Just google that, or “cat laptop skin” and you see the sites.
Thank you!! LOL
Looks like one of the hoodlum cats from Gay Purreee. lolz….
Cat and skin should be illegal to use in the same sentence. >.<
Hey Kafrn I found a gift for the trespasser next time she comes by your yard!
aawww I want that shirtttttttttt
There’s all sorts of stuff there, too bad the meaniepants hubby wont let me have any
OMG. Must. have. that. mug!
Going to have a look now…
omg. Update. 10:00 last night. banging outside. I push Carl out the front door in his jocks to check out what the noise is. Crazy cat lady on a bike goes ZIPPING past so incredibly fast we almost didn’t see her. she disappears down the street. carl loiters around in the shadows of the yard for a few more minutes…. Crazy cat lady goes FLYING past the other way and around the block. We have no idea what she was doing but she didnt have anything with her. Just her on a bike. Carl ran in and we watched through the window. She went around the block one more time at LIGHTENING SPEED and then we didn’t see her again. Weird, because apparently she doesn’t live that close….
Good news though. Ginger cat has made friends with cat next door, so we get to hear their passionate feline love outside our window every night
creeepppy!!!!!!!!!!!
AND I forgot about this but we watched this show last night by Dr Mike Leahy called “Bite me”, and it was about this disease spread by cats and rats. How it works is that cats carry this toxic plasma in their blood, and they pass it on to rats in their poo. The Toxic plasma changes chemicals in the rats brain, to make them attracted to cats so that they run up to neighbourhood cats, and the cats eat them. It gives the cats a better food source, and keeps the environment cleaner. The virus then mutates inside the cat again, and spreads to more rats and so on and so on. It was so interesting
Anyway, Dr Mike Leahy said that if a human accidentally gets this toxic plasma into their blood somehow, by touching cat poo, then they also can carry the thread of this disease 3% of people worldwide now carry this virus. It slows down your body functions and reactions, and a side effect is that it makes you very attracted to cats. And this is why some people are called crazy cat people, because they carry this strand of virus in their system and have to have lots of cats around. It was an awesome show. No joke either. it was so cool .
Ooookay….. 0_o Well after the bicycling incident, can we firmly conclude that this woman is *bleep*ing nuts?!
lolz…I don’t need any virus to make me attracted to cats, or cats to me. All my life I’ve had stray cats show up on my doorstep or follow me home, hence why we have Hello Kitty. Although she has really taken to the hubby more, which is cute to see the two of them together. Imagine this 6 foot-somthin’ ex-Marine playing with the pink feather and string cat toy and the black cat with white markings jumping around in the grass after it…SO funny! xD
OMG too funny! I’d heard the rat thing-but not in people. I love watchingn bite me with Dr. Leahy
Toooo weird she’s trying to take flight on a bike….
lol mimz, that is a funny thing to imagine! Can you send us a pic?!
K&K , How awesome is Mike Leahy!!!!!!!!! He said it on his America episode. I think it is in series one. He actually says it in a kind of funny way: “If a person was to accidentally ingest some of the infected cat poo…..”
I dont want to know how someone could “accidentally ingest” cat poo!!!!!!
LOL at all the posts…but seriously…there’s something wrong with that lady, who does she think she is lightning speeding around your house?! and she thinks she’s so fast nobody can see her! hope she just goes away once and for all silly lady
Kafrn, are you sure that was a bike she was riding and not a broom???
Good grief! I also laughed out loud at your comment of your partner wearing a cat suit for her!
This is pretty serious though. I am sorry to hear the police aren’t taking it more seriously but it figures. It seems like for now you have done all you really can do until she does something insane again. If they would just only test what that powder is. I don’t think the police will take it seriously until more people start complaining and when peoples pets end up going missing. I would try really hard to let all your neighbors know what is going on so when they see her too they can call the cops. If she was peeping around my home I would have surely introduced her to my 9mm.
I love the scientific explanation for crazy cat lady =)
I’m just wondering if she’s expanding her territory of stalking and assaulting cats. Can you tell if she has a pack attached to the bike that could be holding her dishes and white stuff? Maybe she’s running away from the next couple of blocks after setting her traps.
I would still call the cops and let them know she’s now on a bike and seems worse than ever.
If that doesn’t work, we’ll go vigilante on her bike riding cat torturing butt.
okay, that whole virus thing is weird. Never heard of that before. I’ll make sure to not ingest any cat poo in the near future
Yep, definitely taking cat poo off my shopping list for the week, damn. lol
Aw shucks, guys. And I was going to invite you over for lunch. (Right after I chased down the neighbor’s cat with my shopping cart.)

What do you think the banging was? At first I thought she might have been egging your house or cars…..but maybe she’s tossed something over a fence?
We think she may have banged on the fence as she was riding along. Because she reckons the cat sleeps in our yard. Shes a nutter!
OMG O_O crazy a…… lady. Next time you gotta call the fbi lol she’s nuts!

What I wouldn’t do to just be there at that moment, what a hilarious scenario!! Carl out there in his underwear hanging out in the shadows spying on the crazy cat lady!. AHHAHHHAHA!
I think you should put speakers outside of you house, and when you see crazy cat lady speed-pedaling by, you should play the music from Wizard of Oz – the part where the Witch/neighbor on the bike wants to take Dorothy’s dog.
You have got to get video of this crazy cat lady! This is getting to be very nutty!
Lol omg thats so funny! We DO have speakers outside BinkyBunny! Im going to see if I can download the Wicked Ms gulch music and put it on CD and next time she comes past I will turn up the Amp and hit Speaker B and all the neighbours will know she is about!!!!!!!!!
Oh boy. This thread takes first prize as being the funniest/weirdest/most entertaining in the forum. The stuff it gets members posting… BB: that video of the lady on her bicycle… that was rich! ROFL!
OMG New installment!
I wanted to write this on friday night to you all but our computer crashed and I havent been able to get online!!! AHH!
Carl was in the shower on friday night and I decided to go to the shop to get tea. All was normal, until I was on my way home, in my own street, and I saw a weird little lady walking down the street with a box of Whiskas cat food! It was the Cat lady! She was back again! I couldnt believe it!
I rang carl from my mobile (I had forgotten that he was in the shower), and he answered… I told him she was right out the front of our house, and he ran around the side of our house to peer over the fence and see what she was doing.
Instead of coming into our place, she had gone into the drive way of the units next door to us. It is a very sheltered driveway, hard to see from the street. It just looks like a long laneway. I drove past on the street a few times and couldnt see her, but I could see carl huddled around the side of the house, lol. He was still in a towel! He was watching her through the cracks in the fence. The cat was there too, but it wouldn’t go near her. She was trying to woo it with the food.
She was there for quite a while. I went and parked down the street to wait for her to come out.
As she came out she was yelling at our fence. Carl had banged on the fence and scared the cat away. The lady had yelled at him and told him that she could do what she wanted, and that we couldn’t scare her off by calling the police.
Then she got in her car, and sat there for about 10 minutes (fuming) before she drove off.
I was going to follow her in the car to see where she went, and where she lived, so we could go and put pink trays all over her front lawn, but Carl called me inside cause he had a better idea.
We got up really early on Saturday morning and talked to the 3 owners of the units next door to see if they had any cats. (they don’t)
We told them what was happening, and the plan of attack and they thought it was a great idea!
Carl went to Bunnings and bought the biggest bottle of cat repellant he could find. He applied it all down the driveway next door . I dont think a cat is going to go in there for YEARS!!! And the good thing is that you cant really smell it, so the cat lady wont even know that she is wasting her time!
Oh and I emailed the news show about it but havent had a reply yet
I think you should spray the crazy cat lady with the cat repellant…
lol I agree with Furface
Wow – why hasn’t this lady been arrested for all the trespassing she’s doing?
I think it’s time to make it costly for her to keep it up. Like a night in jail or a fine or being committed by her dog-owning relatives.
Lol. So I was thinking the neighbours were going to be calling the police next. “There’s a peeping tom looking thru my fence and he’s only wearing a towel!”
Good thing you ended up talking to them about what’s been going on. If she does come by again and leaves food, let her. That way you can remove it and check out if it is just food. Don’t know how you’d do that exactly though……..
I really hope this will stop…I’m getting afraid she’ll do something to your other animals unintentionally or not.
That makes me very angry because about three years ago it took me six months to take care of a stray black kitty that I named Mr. Vegemite. I got him spayed and got his abcesses taken care of and adopted him. I tried to keep him in the house but he was so used to staying outside, I had to let him out. Some neighbors trapped him and had him put down, even though the little girl next door to them told them to not do that because I was taking care of him and had him fixed and adopted him. She refused to listen and did it anyhow. When I found out I was very angry and because I called her a “fat american sow” they had me arrested for “harassment”. Anyhow, the charges were dismissed and the police were swamped with emails from all around the nation and world condemning them as they did not know I am joined to a cat group that is good with rescuing cats. I have never spoken to that neighbor and anyhow, the policeman that arrested me is ashamed of what he did. He even threatened me that if my cat came into his yard, he would shoot it. I did file a complaint about the policeman which was a waste of time but from all the emails and phone calls, it made them look stupid and the people that had me arrested got lots of angry mail too. If I were you, I would get ahold of Peta. Peta can be idiots but use their fanaticism for your advantage. Get ahold of other cat groups that rescue too and let them know it is being abused. She is a nut and very evil for capturing other people pets.
Oh my gosh if you do this you HAVE to videotape LOL
That’s a good idea with the repellant. But I’d keep calling the police. And banging to scare the cats away-what she’s doing is illegal. Carl banding on the fence-not illegal. (unless his towel falls down of course!)
Getting ahold of a cat rescue group is a good idea. They may even know her. They may be able to have some volunteers come out and keep watch?
Better tell Carl to shower with shorts on just in case he has to run outside again
How long is this lady going to keep this up? It actually really angers me to hear your stories. Not knowing what she plans on doing with the cats. Is she like totally demented and trying to exterminate all felines one cat at a time? I’m glad it’s not me dealing with her because I’d probably get a criminal record
I think it’s terrible that someone would take a cat that doesn’t belong to them and have it put down. Mind your own business. What sort of laws are there regarding this?
It is true, LPT. It is easy to get carried away with the absurdity of this erratic self-proclaimed exterminator lady, but how disconcerting to think that cats are at the receiving end of her ‘mission’.
OMG Desma I read your thread about Mr. Vegemite back when it happened. What a horrible, horrible, horrible thing to happen! Even now it burns me with those bums! I belong to the same site as you.
Kafrn this lady is def crazy! You need something more effective with scaring her away like maybe a air horn. Inform all the neighbors that you may use it and then when she comes around give it a toot. The noise will let everyone know she is here, scare the kitty away from her and scare her enough times that she may not want to come around any more. Well…..it was just a thought lol!
I think investing in an electric fence would be a good idea. Turn the charge ALL the way up! The next time she comes banging on it …. ZZZZAPPP!!!
Of course, then the hubby has to be careful about going outdoors soaking wet. 0_o
I think the idea about the music from Wizard of Oz on speakers is a great idea. What is also good, is to print out flyers and dropping them off at neighbors homes warning them that a particular neighbor is doing that.
Here is my dear sweet poor little Mr. Vegemites Catster page. You can also see how rediculous I am with my other kitties if you click onto the “family” on his page on right hand side, scroll down a bit.

OMG Desma, I LOVE the pic of Mr vegemite sprawled out on the purpley cushion! He looks so happy . It makes me so angry to hear what happened to him, but its good that he got so much love and attention from you
