Hello again. So I know that she needs to get spayed, but because of what happed these last few weeks, I’m confused. I started working with her even more and she was doing perfect! She became the bun I always wanted. I’d give her a treat and she would come up and have me pet her and scratch her. She would stretch out on the blanket next to me and fall alseep. She’d jump in my lap and let me snuggle her a little. She’d let me scratch her head and ears and sides and she would stretch out like “oh yeah. that’s the spot”. It was so wonderful! Now she went the opposite and is worse!!!! She’ll come and get a treat and then I go to pet her and she growls louder than before. She doesn’t want anything to do with me. She also, these last few weeks, would come to my bedside in the morning to say good morning and have me pet her for a while. Now it’s like she’s scared of me again. Everytime I move, she jumps. or growls. i also noticed that when she growls at me for trying to pet her, she wiggles her tail too. To be honest, I think she got mad when I threw away her yogies too. haha. I opened them to see how many I felt like I was wasting because it was knew and as soon as she heard that, she came running! Then I threw it in the garbage and she got this really offended look on her face and put her ears down and started thumping at me like “what the heck did you do that for ya jerk”. To be honest, it just makes me want to cry because she was being soooo good and sooooo sweet! I was really excited. Now… she hates me again. She also is peeing on the floor. Am I doing something wrong? Help… (whimpers)

        Kayla

my bun was exactly the same before she got spayed..so don’t worry too much.

when we first got our bun she was the sweetest thing ever, the perfect bunbun…then a few months later she turned into a little monster. she started thumping, growling, pooping and peeing every where (we had to invest in a handvac cos the poop was everywhere!).

after she recovered from the spay, the pooping and peeing outside of her cage immediately stopped and her behaviour has changed back to when we first got her.

i think spaying will make a big difference to her behaviour.

Oh it could definitely be fluctuating horomones and I’m very sure she’ll calm down after the spay It’s hard not to feel frustrated or have your feelings hurt when they act like that to us-it’s pretty offensive being growled at by a bunny! Keep at it, your doing a good job and after the spay she’ll be even better!

Just hang in there – in human terms she has the worst ever case of constant PMS and there is no chocolate in the house!

awww, bunnybuns, I know how you feel. My first girl, Pringles, was a holy terror, I mean her name almost got changed to You Evil Little Furball permanently. (actually something else but the forum would have censored it)

Hang in there, it WILL get better. Just think of it as having a female teenager in the house and nothing you do will be right. It was several months after the spay until all the attitude was gone, but now Pringles is so mellow I sometimes miss the Fire and Brimstone that used to rain upon my poor bunny slave head.

Everyone’s right, spaying will help. I already said that my Fang is a little demon-spawn, but I have high hopes for him once he’s neutered, sinc Smokey became an angel after, so maybe Fang might, too….

Somebody on this site said something great to me, and it’s true…..we have at least ten years to get to know our bunnies, there’s no rush.

Oh Bunnybuns.   It will go fine.  I know we just worry ourselves about our babies so much.   Ruby was done 2 or 3 months ago.   She is still nippy when she wants to be put down.  I doubt that will change much.  She just loves to groom Cotton but she bit him on his lip just under his nose and his lower lip which I discovered 3 days ago.

Your girl will do fine.  If you weren’t worried you wouldn’t be normal.

If it makes you feel any better, we just had Meco spayed and a few days after the spay, I reached into her cage from the top (which we do constantly and she never minds) to give her a few pieces of banana. So I put them on her dish because she didn’t seem interested in them when I held them out for her, and I went to fill her water again. When I came back, she hadn’t tocuhed them, which isn’t like her, so I moved her dish closer, because that had been working with most of her food. But, as I moved her little dish towards her, she lunged out of no where and bit my thumb.

I was so upset. Not only was I offended, having just been bitten, but I felt so terrible for taking what was a sweet bunny and ruining her entire life to the point where she was biting. I started crying.

                            It was pathetic

Don’t feel bad bitter, after I had my tubes tied, I’d have bit anyone that came near too.
